No manual because there isn't enough demand to invest in offering one. That money is being spent developing electric drivetrains and autonomous driving systems.

Target audience is people who want a compact; true 2-seater sports car. This answer also addresses your second question.

Funny- for how often people complain about cars getting larger, I hear near-zero praise for this car's compact size.
3400 pounds isn't small. They got the length right, same as a Cayman, but missed the weight by 400 pounds.
Oh! So it's the weight that is making it large... even though it isn't actually large. Umkay.

No, it's big. It's 14 inches longer than my M Coupe was and 4 inches longer than my GTI. So yes, large and fat. Both.

I didn't check your numbers, but if I may add another perspective...

The Supra's 4379mm length is identical to a Cayman S, but at 1854mm wide it's a little narrower than the Porsche, which measures 1994mm across. In terms of wheelbase there's only 5mm in it.

The TT RS is shorter and narrower than both but with a longer wheelbase, while the M2 is the longer for both overall length and wheelbase, and is just a little narrower than the Cayman S.

As for the weight... a Supra's weight sounds like a lot until you consider the M2 weighs more.

Granted, an M2 is a 2+2, but it's generally considered a small tossable car. The A90 is smaller and lighter. Where's the applause?

So it's better than the fat kid that's somehow 100 pounds or more heavier than it's larger donor car. Wow.

It's still 400 pounds heavier than the Cayman and a whole 47 pounds lighter than the Z4 which presumably has more standard content. News at 11, BMW dgaf about making light cars anymore.

I'll applaud when you list something worthy of applause. At the moment you just seem to be celebrating it as the least worse thing that's cheaper than the much better Cayman.

Prices did rise after the movie. At the time I was looking at a 93 TT w/120k for $12k. I passed because I thought these things would keep droping. After F&F similar cars were being listed for $18k-$20k.

As a boring dad, i am going to buy a sporty car in the next 18 months and it must have 4 seats. I rented a 911 last summer and threw my 7 year old in the back seat, he went ballistic, said it was the funnest thing he has ever done.

i have a 3 year old too so intend on having them enjoy a proper sports car (or maaaaaaaybe the previous model M3). Oh and I am talking verts only. Thing is with the 911 the engine being where it is, my 7 year old could hear it screaming. The joy on the lad's face.

You're a good dad. I find nothing uglier than a four seat folding hard top, especially an M with chrome window trim. Plus an E93 weighs as much as an E39 M5. Get the P car.

Don't want to derail this thread so will open my own as i get more serious about buying but basically down to Mustang or 911 verts, I cannot think of anything else. Purchase price, storage costs, depreciation etc all come into play.

My point i guess, was that some of us like a small back seat and it's not useless

Supposedly Toyota is looking to sell around 1,000 units a month. We'll see if they can reach their sales target.

Globally or US only? That would be slightly behind the current C7 take rate and way, way, way ahead of the 911, 718 (both Boxster and Cayman), and combined sales of the SL, SLC and GT.

Both the Camaro and Mustang sell around 6k a month, but that's including the lower trims.

Looks like Lexus RC sales were initially over 1200 in 2015, 970 in 2016, 615 in 2017 and fell to 280 in 2018.

I suppose it's not unreasonable to expect a similar trend for the Supra

He did not say specifically, but everyone was assuming he was referring to the US.

I didn't think the US was getting that many all of 2019. 🤷🏻*♂️

I'm also a little lost, but no doubt the US will receive a good amount of cars. We were the second largest market for the A80.

Back to the A90, from what I understand the US will be getting 1,500 launch editions. After all of those have been sold then the normal 3.0 and 3.0 Premium cars will be available.

Don't forget about the Tacoma; I bought mine with a manual. I would really like to get the current MX-5 someday, such a great little driver's car.

Reminds me of my parents old Trooper with a manual. Always felt like it had escaped the bean counters review. Great unit.

A different take on the 2020 Supra

If only this guy would have been on the design team, I would have gladly parted with my money for a new Supra.
