It's actually more than that...
VERs dirty trick prevented HAM from finishing ahead of him in the race.
So HAM lost more points than VER.

This. Had they finished in pre-lunge order, HAM is even. If, based on BOTs pace and track position, we compute HAMs probable finishing position, we are looking at 2nd place or a win. That would have been at least 1 point up and probably as many as 7 points up.

A huge delta.

On an entirely different tangent. Any one wonder when Mazepin and Schumi Jr are going to come to blows? Or when Mazepin's dad is going to buy Haas so his son can still have a seat? That kid should be replaced now and not even wait until next year. He has no business being in an F1 car yet IMO.

lol we should start making up WDC should be points like that other side and mention it at every chance they get.

But that is just silly and we are smarter than that.

Yea Hass has written off the whole season and are just praying they luck upon a better car next year.

I don't think anyone at Haas cares to show up for the GPs this year but have to.

My thoughts:

-Wreckless of both drivers, but when 5 points makes the difference neither are going to back down. Racing incident...regardless of how dangerous.

-The penalty should have not been awarded

-I am a fan of max, but that was pretty ignorant to just walk away without even an acknowledgement of Hams safety. I saw mentioned "What about HAM in Silverstone", what was he suppose to do stop and go check on him? Racing continues until they're told to stop.

-If the pits were executed without error these two wouldve never collided. Its a team sport. Everyone plays their part, so if you blame it on max, blame it on all of RBR and same goes to MERC. Putting in 2.5+ stops isnt acceptable, especially for these two.

Glad everyone is okay, but I expect a few more of these encounters, still plenty of racing to go. Lets hope everyone stays safe and we get to enjoy an intense season.

Although it’s a rarely seen, Bottas performance seemed to top Hamilton. 19 places is impressive on Monza. Mercs new PU, in the hands of an unleashed Bottas has been impressive all weekend.

Not defending either one here but in that regard max probably shouldve ditched the attempt and attacked somewhere else. There was still plenty of racing to be had.

It would be really interesting to see the telemetry of max's car going into that corner versus other passes.

Given the way penalties have been handed out lately...I think a 3 place grid drop seems fair.
RB will probably combine it with an engine swap and associated grid drop.

Merc had an advantage at Monza though through Bottas with new engine but Ham would improve with less fuel weight so it may have been Max's only chance which to me was a fair challenge,Ham blocked and both lost.
