Thanks! I don't close until November but hopefully the next few months will fly by. Will definitely be visiting the site often and taking lots of pictures. I'll have to speak to the builder about an empty conduit, my coworker mentioned that as well, as long as it's not too costly since I'm practically maxed out on my budget.

You live in London, so I get it, although I didn't think it is as compressed as say Oakville / GTA, but I hope you like your neighbours! (seeing as how close you are to them)

Post pics when finished!

Holy hell... I would kill myself living that close to some one... I don't like how close neighbors are to me now and they are about 60 yards away...
Congrats on the new place though... being a homeowner is great!

I would have loved something with 50'+ frontage and more space in between myself and the neighbours but this is just my first place so I couldn't get everything that I wanted. More space would've been another 150-200k over my budget. Maybe next time.

I'm building as well. Small townhome, but it's nice to have a new home and be able to watch it build. I'll have to post some photos.

Cost me a $150 'document fee' for documenting the change to the standard plan. Whatever. Highly worth it IMO. The effort alone to run new conduit through the walls later is worth far more than $150 (mainly because I hate dry walling... ). Depending on how big your place is, go for at least 3/4" conduit. I was supposed to get two 3/4" runs but they f**ked up and initially only ran one 1/2" run. I have that over the back bedroom and a 3/4" run over the front half. I have a smallish townhouse so that should be plenty.

Here is a picture of the outside, have plenty more of the inside. They are finishing up the HVAC, and then electrical starts to go in.

Ours is right behind the black suburban. Two floor, three bedroom, two car garage. All we need.

Yep. Were already in a townhome, but this one is MUCH nicer. And the separation wall is fantastic. I will hear more noise outside the front of my house than through the walls.

All the part of living in the center of the city and not spending $500k +

lol, that was the only thing I actually liked about apartment living. That being said, I can't even see my nearest neighbors and I love it. Privacy FTMFW.

We decided to move 25 minutes closer to work, and it consisted of townhomes. We are fine with it.

There is nothing wrong with a condo or townhome. I some times wish i didn't have a yard to take care of, trees to trim, septic tanks to clean out, etc....

Enjoy the build process!

Given the amount of travel I do, those are the exact reasons that I have condos. By the time I pay for everything at my cottage for maintenance, I easily spend as much as the condo fees.

I should add that my buddy has a townhome that was built about 30 years ago and not once have i heard his neighbors through the walls.

Doubt you'll have a problem.

Personally I am very excited to not have a yard to take care of. The fact the house is about $60k nicer is a huge plus. We are moving on up!

Ill post some more of the interior as it gets built.

This exactly. I love not having to take care of a yard or any of the maintenance. Then again, I'm young and want to go out and have fun every night, not ride around on a lawn mower or trim hedges. I'll do that when I'm old and senile.

x2 love the ease of townhouse living. I've never heard my neighbors once.

I've never heard my neighbors either, but I don't think any of them are as physically active as I am, so I don't know how well the walls are sound proofed. I got a nice sticky note on my front door a few months back asking if my girlfriend could keep it down after 1am because they had to work the next morning.

Never did find out who put it there, though.

I actually love doing my yard stuff. I just bought a 50" zero turn. It's gangster.
