RS - $60,215

How many companies ask their customers if they want a discount?

Should GM Reduce 2024 Chevy Blazer EV Pricing?

Competition in the various all-electric vehicle segments continues to heat up, including in the EV crossover segment where the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV plays. In fact, two rivals to the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV, the Mustang Mach-E and Tesla Model Y, just got a price drop. Which begs the question – should the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV follow suit?
So then, we want to know – should GM reduce 2024 Chevy Blazer EV pricing? Tell us by voting in the poll below
https://gmauthority.com/blog/2023/02...er-ev-pricing/

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess yes to lower price and no to profitability.

Imagine running low on EV charge and the nearest EV charging site has no power. Will a breakdown firm come to you?

I'm in one of the I forums..70% of the talk is about software and tech that goes over my head.
The rest 30% is about people losing their marbles and moaning that their car has idrive 8 and bmw cheated them as idrive 8.5 is out and now their car is useless (iPhone must get the newest behaviour).

I think that mentality was talked about early in this thread. It seems that the early adopters who embraced EV's are the folks that love the tech and I suspect will want the newest version when it comes out. I think we are seeing that the EV enthusiasts are out there and the rest of us aren't buying them. Should be interesting when trade in time comes. If the new ones aren't moving what will dealers offer for a trade against an over priced new EV. I'm not predicting a collapse of the EV market but I don't think it's playing out the way government wants or the automakers can stomach.

EV'S were selling at msrp or over a year ago. We know tesla have slashed prices. The other manufacturers also have. Also there is now a federal credit of 9k.
Often the new car price a year ago is 20%less now including the federal credit this along with a usual 20% fall in price of ownership after a year means people who bought vehicles a year ago are facing a wipeout of 40% in the first year.
Some who bought theirs at 120k are now being offered trade in of 80k. The supply constraints have lifted too which means the buyers have little wait times for new ev and plentiful supply of used ev.It's sad how much money is being lost by these folk if they have to change the car.

When does any government program ever work out?
The bigger the program the worse the outcome and this Green Grift is the mother of all swindles.

The $9k federal credit doesn't mean JACK. It's a mind game just like what department stores plays...jack the MSRP way up in order to mark it back down as a discount to make you think you're getting something. Consumers are so gullible. Look at the GM Blazer pricing example as posted by M3WC - where is your $9k federal incentive now?

Yep...great to see how our government spends our money, right? Is this how they say they're "taxing the rich" while "taxing the hell out of everyone" right under our noses?

More accurately, the "rich" they're taxing are those in the upper middle class. Make too much money to get any of the handouts that have been given. Make too little money for all the shelters the actual rich have to lower their taxes. Yet, the upper middle class has the privilege of being taxed at a 34+% rate.

Exactly. "Rich", as defined by the government is very different from what you and I are considered to be "rich". So, the next time you hear anyone running for government that says the word "rich", remember to ask them to define what they would considered as "rich"!

I just had to say IMO you are rich for owning that beautiful MCoupe. When California makes you sell that, drop me a note.

touche I'm considered "rich" in California for owning a BMW period, even if it's a 20-year-old e53 X5, which is only worth $880 according to Carvana

EVs have to have broad true acceptance to work. If that does not happen over the next few years then the Federal and state governments will absolutely have to walk back the coercion.

Electric cars will cost more to make, BMW warns

By Howard Mustoe

(Telegraph)

BMW has warned investors that it was suffering higher costs in developing electric vehicles, sending its shares down by more than 6pc.

The carmaker also reported a lower profit margin for the three months to the
end of June, which disappointed investors.

This will drive production overseas read (China). Xi Jinping must be laughing his butt off as they build more coal power plants to meet the demand for American EV's. I see that GM has moved EV production to Mexico.

GM Is Moving Electric Car Manufacturing Jobs to Mexico After Biden Praised Them Over Tesla

During this year’s State of the Union speech, for example, Biden said, “GM is making the largest investment in its history — $7 billion to build electric vehicles, creating 4,000 jobs in Michigan.” He didn’t mention Tesla once.

That’s not going to be a good look now that GM announced it’s latest investment in electric vehicle production will be south of the border.

Just when I don't think we can't get any dumber we kick it into stupid overdrive.

I'm no lover of EV's but there are a lot of situations where they do make sense and a significant market for them exists. I can see nothing that is being done to promote them that is not in the long run likely to diminish their acceptance.
