Thankfully, it seems that my Achilles tendon is intact. I have an ultrasound booked for next week, to confirm. It looks to be a tear in the muscle between the tendon and the main calf muscle, gastrocnemius ... possibly the soleus. Ultrasound should determine. The boot is very annoying, I must say. I have to wear it in bed too

Re. antibiotics ... nope. The doctor advised to take 150mg of Aspirin every day, to help prevent the possibility of DVT.

Just remember to wean yourself slowly off the aspirin when the time comes. I used to take a low dose aspirin daily on the recommendation of my former PCP. He retired and my new PCP thought the gastro risks of taking it outweighed any benefits, and I agreed. Still, he had me cut back to one tablet every other day for a couple of weeks and then every third day for a bit. Then off them completely. He was worried about a "bounce back" effect of coming off them cold turkey. Made sense to me and wasn't a big deal to do.

I think Ralph Nader's biggest pet peeve was the Chevrolet Corvair.

An old girlfriend of mine when I was a teenager owned a Corvair. That car was fun. Way more fun than my wife's Pinto.

Edit: neither one of them made me crash or exploded on me. Just lucky, I guess.

The Corvair may have came first but Nader still hated the Pinto.

My most memorable aviation moment was an Emergency abort 3/4 of the way down the runway due to right engine failure on my way to China. Good news is, I had a spare change of underwear... the bad news was, it wasn't on my carryon...

We were in a 777 HEAVY and the plane shook like hell... Nothing happened, everyone was safe. When we got back to the terminal, I took a sharpie out of my bag and put a mark on the armrest of my seat. My business partner asked me whet I was doing... I told him they are not fixing right engine failure over night, if we get back on tomorrow and its the same plane, you're going by yourself...
You know they wiped off the Sharpie with alcohol and used the same plane…

My 1st car was a 1964 Corvair Monza. I bought it used in 1966. I had a lot of fun with that car including doing some careful tuning, added headers and dual exhaust.

Nader tried to do the same hatchet job on the VW Beetle but Road & Track stuffed a sock in it before he could do much damage. Nader was/is a manipulative liar and a fraud.

I think all Nader wanted to do is $ell his book.

When something seems fishy, follow the dollar.
