Personally, the only thing that's significantly increased for me year after year is gas prices. Other than that, food and housing have remained relatively constant.

Well, to be more precise, food has increased but not by 3-4% (for me at least). It's more like .25% one year, 1% another year, .5% another year, etc.

Dont buy/sell based on taxes. Make your decisions based on fundamentals, technicals, etc or whatever basis you use. Sell a stock because you think there is no more money in it and not for a certain tax treatment.

I personally sold my AAPL shares this week. It's just off it's 52 week high and I suspect some profit-taking to happen before the end of the year.

TAXATION question.

I understand the wash rule for capital losses, so my question is in regards to capital gains.

If I sell Stock A today in an attempt to have it's capital gains fall in the 2013 tax year, would re-purchasing the same stock before 30 days create any issues similar to the wash rule where you can't report a capital loss if you buy the same share within 30 days.

Wash sale rules only apply to capital losses. So if you sell for a gain and then rebuy within 30 days, you would have to sell the new shares at a loss within 30 days of selling the original shares at a gain to have the loss disallowed.

warned of some type of top coming 2 weeks ago...still believe it...wouldnt want to be fully long at this time...sold almost of all of 3D stocks few weeks ago...3D's have sold off hard...3D's are the leaders and they are telling me to mono stocks are tired.

I'm in GCVRZ at 0.70. It's been taking off with Lemtrada (treats MS) being approved in various countries. Dec 27th is when the FDA is expected to rule whether to approve the treatment for marketing in the US.
