My grandfather’s first car was a Brush. Probably in the 1920s. The Brush retained some vestiges of buggy construction, notably wood wheels and axles (and body framing as was common then). The joke at the time from competitors was, “wooden axle, wooden wheels, wouldn’t run”

This isn't a LOL. This is a "who is stupid enough to believe this?"
*EDIT - a lesson in agendas I guess, a lot of furor about this picture. Those without a sharp eye cannot see the diesel exhaust. Some of the sites that try to debunk this post go too far and are mistaken as well*. - a lot going on in this one... https://www.politifact.com/factcheck...ging%20station. Second, there is NO ELECTRIC CAR that takes 3 hours to get 200 miles on a fast charger. Even an i3, the slowest charging electric vehicle on a fast charger, charges 150 miles in about 50 minutes (that's it's maximum range). The anti-EV crowd shows how weak their case is over and over because their math and facts are consistently completely off. *edited, but I can't tell where the station is by the photo" Shawn |

Well, the one in the picture is certainly diesel, unless that exhaust pipe with the rain cap is for all of the electrons.

And looking at the plate on the car, it is certainly not in Austin TX.

https://leadstories.com/hoax-alert/2...-vehicles.html Better photo too. But I have to admit, this station looks JUST LIKE the EA stations I use on interstate 81 except for the exhaust. But they hum and don't have an engine sound. High energy circuitry closets I think. Sorry, old eyes. Will edit original post above… Math discussed in later post. I don't know for certain the diesel gallons per hour, but the link I just shared claims to. "Of course, since the claim got the gallons of fuel and the charging times wrong, this miles per gallons is going to be incorrect. Again, we can look at the source article that measured precise fuel use for charging. They found the equivalent of 54 miles per gallon for the BMW i3, 39-47 miles per gallon for the Tesla Model S, and 34-41 miles per gallon for the Tesla Model X SUV. The article notes that these are lower fuel consumption than some similar cars available in Australia. So, even as an emergency charging source in the Australian Outback, this solution is probably more energy efficient than conventional fuels. And given that nearly 100% of actual charging will come from grid electricity, these electric cars will be much more fuel efficient than a gasoline or diesel vehicle." All that completely jives with my experience with my i3's. I had a 2014 that did not have fast charging (it was a rex, and fast charging was an option), and a had a 2019 i3s REX which had a 150 mile electric range (tack on another 70 with fuel, and of course unlimited refueling at gas stations), which charged at 2% per minute at 50kw. Where on I-81? We drive that road a few times per year, and would like to take one of our EVs in the future.....

Sheetz in Wytheville, VA Brugh's Mill Country Store in Fincastle, VA Porsche Dealership in Kingsport, TN (used to be open and free, I let my i3 go last June when I got a Polestar V60, so I can't confirm now) The first three on the list will get you from extreme southwest VA to mid Central VA easily. Any electric car with fast charging can make it from station to station, even the "widdle ones". Modern ones make it from Fincastle to Bristol on a 20 minute charge. Shawn |
