Anyone have a recommendation for an AD in NYC? I'm here this week for business and thought I'd give it a shot.

Been meaning to add mine to this thread for a while. I have a SS GMT Master II (red/blue), purchased 10 years ago, a steel and yellow gold DateJust II purchased in 2010, and just bought an 18k yellow gold Day Date II President, since they have just been discontinued due to the new Day Date 40, and I don't like the look of the new one too much; pretty similar to why I bought a 2013 M3 and not an F80, come to think of it.

I will post pictures when I have a bit more time.

I have a 16710 as well, but with the boring black bezel. My 116500 Daytona is also with a black dial.

Cleaned my (small) collection today.

Went for a swim before.

Hopefully be adding a Cartier Santos 100 (38mm) steel and yellow gold with leather band to my collection if I get into one of my top choice law schools off the waitlist.

I have a classic 14060 Submariner 2 line

I guess I'm getting bit bored lately so I've been thinking of " modding " it with a Red Yactmaster 2nd hand ?!?!?

My humble Datejust...Which I managed to drop and scratch half way to hell within an hour of purchasing. Beautiful watches in this thread...When I can get the face polished i'll snap a good quality picture of it.

My father wore a DJ from the 1970s until about a month or two ago. One nice thing about earlier Rolex crystals was that they are acrylic, which makes damage easily repairable and makes them less likely to crack than a sapphire crystal.

Daddy had a bunch of "stuff" buffed out of his crystal over the years, but he never in some 40 years had the movement serviced. The watch died a couple months back, but Daddy lives on. But for having outlived his life expectancy, he'd never have had to have the watch serviced/repaired.

I can't say that 40 years is what everyone can expect. I can only say it's what I observed re: the watch Mother bought for Daddy. I was a kid at the time and I vaguely recall that shopping trip.

BTW...if you want do so, buffing an acrylic crystal is a DIY task. (http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=147395)

All the best.

tony20009 thanks for the insight, I appreciate that. This is the first nice i've purchased of this caliber, so needless to say I was...upset with myself when I managed to scratch it so badly, so quickly.

And interestingly (well maybe it's interesting), my motivation for this watch was my Grandfathers' 1972 Datejust - which looked 90% identical to the one I just purchased. I was always struck by how elegant but simple it was.

Cheers!

Great link. I personally use toothpaste (regular old school toothpaste) for the crystals and quick cleaning of the entire watch(works great on diamonds as well).

My "M" serial number Sea Dweller. Last run before they went to the Deep Sea. I love it and my other watches just sit in the winder box... LOL
