No but I do know the definition of tedious. And unless the GT3 is an excavator...the mechanics are the same as any other manual, perhaps more intense/engaging.

Maybe he was just showing off, but it is funny since just about 2 weeks ago a different GT3 tried to race me when I was in the e93. I don't know what it is with these guys.

Anyway, it actually didn't seem all that fast and sounded kind of blah. In all fairness, the one I saw two weeks ago sounded better. Looks pretty good overall but not amazing or exotic. I think I would take a Z06 over it even if they were the same price.
I have a 991 GT3, among other high performance cars and it is absolutely sublime. Best car I have ever driven, sounds awesome, and is wicked fast. it's kind of funny because I have the opposite experience, people try to race me all the time. I don't even acknowledge their challenges on the street, on the track however...I'm more than happy to show anyone what the car's got.

I might be the odd one out here, but I much prefer the 997 GT3 over the 991 GT3, purely because it comes in manual. But there's no doubting the 991 is leaps and bounds ahead of the 997. I bought the TTS instead of the GT3 anyway, but primarily because I don't tend to track my cars (and when I do, I rather have something cheap).

What's the point of this trolling post even in the sense of trying to be a troll?

You will make better attempt by saying you actually went faster than a 991 GT3 in your X5 on several corners.

The GT3RS was the best sounding car I've owned. When you rev close to 9000 RPM I don't understand how anyone thinks it doesn't sound all that good? It's like saying F1 cars doesn't sound good.

What I can say is that my F80 is one of the worst sounding performance car I've own (windows down). The 4 cylinder CLA45 I traded for this ride sounds better.

A GT3 is a drivers car with heritage and race perigee. Some people get it, some don't and that's ok. Someone has to buy GTR's. Joke. You like what you like and you don't what you dont.

I would prefer the 911 Turbo S over the GT3
GT3 is nice, never driven neither, seem some GT3 on the streets before, they sound good but not impressive. Maybe a Z06 is not the best choice to pick over a GT3 even if you refering to the new 2016 Z06. But I did saw a 911 Turbo S taking off from a complete to stop and it disappeared in seconds in the straight line but the sound was not impressive neither. However I did saw in LA ones a 458 Speciale and sound and looks was

Agree with OP, 911 is not exotic, does not look that bad but not amazing either, nor does it sound that good. 911 is overhyped and overpriced. Other than the boxer engine, I don't get what is so special about this car.

911? Which one? Because the GT3 is simply an amazing car

Your post might make a little sense if this was a Porsche forum or if I had made the story up, neither of which is the case. A troll is someone who does not have the car in question and then goes to that board and then posts repeatedly, usually about how other cars are better. Like a guy with a 1M who posts on an M4 board, for example.

What can I tell you other than that the guy pulled up next to me, paced me for a bit, and then took off. There was some tongue in cheek in my post of course. Why would someone in a GT3 try to race my X5? On the other hand, why would someone in a GT3 try to race me in the e93? Nobody had a problem with that part of the story, even though the X5 is actually faster in most situations.

Maybe he thought it was an M. Maybe he thought I was trying to race him. Maybe it was just coincidence that he decided to punch it then. Maybe he was showing off for someone in the car or saw my wife looking over and wanted to show off to her. No idea.

And as for why it didn't sound so great, maybe he didn't rev it out far enough. Maybe he had a banana in his tailpipe. I have no idea. But I'll take a nice rumbly V8 sound any day over that. As I say, the previous one sounded better, but it was on Sunny Isles Beach between a lot of buildings which echoed and amplified the sound, making it sound like it was on a track.

I'm sure the car is much faster than it appeared from just that short burst. On a track it would be in its element. As for it being the "holy god of cars," I think that is very much a matter of someone else's opinion, but not mine.

I had the same feeling when I drove the GTR on track or anytime I raced one. We all have different tastes and that's ok.

Absolutely. Everyone has different preferences and opinions, and that's ok. If there was only one perfect car plan, then that's what all car makers would make and it would be a boring world. It's good to have choices.

There isnt a better sounding car under 500K than a GT3...and even then. The sound it makes especially from 8-9K rpm is unmatched by anything I've ever been in.

LOL. 911 is not quite an exotic...but they sound phenomenal, drive better than anything else and are quite special. You just sound like a hater. You should probably just stick to Fiats and Hondas.

Waiting for Revcrazy to chime in to let us know that the GT3 (or any Porsche in general) is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

In all honesty, he probably wasn't winding it out to 9k rpms so you didn't think it seemed that fast. I'm sure if he was going all out, he'd be gone.

last weekend there were at least 991 gt3s.. stock exhaust sounded good, but one guy had a single tipped aftermarket exhaust that made my ears bleed. awesome. the only other car that impressed me was the z/28 that kept passing the GT3(s) lol.

anyway - i don't think OP meant this to be quite as much of a troll type post as it turned out to be lol. maybe the gt3 driver was just demonstrating his car to his buddies (only time i drive like a d-bag on the street is when i'm demonstrating things to my friends and it's only brief) ... if your x5 has 335 wide tires maybe he was showing off a bit .. who knows
