Awesome....enjoy! My dad retired onto a 45' Grand Banks down in Key Largo. Some of my fondest memories of being a kid are on a boat going through the keys/Caribbean.

Congrats! My aunt and uncle did the same several years ago. They sail from NY to the Keys and back every year and other places like PR, Cuba, virgin islands etc. They have a ketch, "Second Wind".

But you aren't: that was a plane crash, no family on board, no connection. Captain Ron is a much closer resemblance.

I can't believe this is a topic...
We have trained the dog to use a mat of astroturf that we keep at the bow. Beyond the three mile limit, we are simply able to throw the....solids... overboard. The... liquids... get washed down with a water hose that we have hooked up to a water pump at the bow.

COLREGS, the rules that govern the ocean, state that beyond the three mile limit, any ship may pump waste overboard... The further you get from shore the more stuff can be thrown over. The only exception to the rule is oil and plastic which can never be thrown overboard.
