It’s pretty easy. Just make cars smaller. I hate the way new models get bigger every year.

Your street car, not gutted out, E46 M3 weighs 2,200 lbs?

We were talking 3k pounds. My personal limit of where fun starts to die. For practicality's sake, I actually accept anything up to 3,200 pounds, but even that is getting way too porky.

The new 181hp Miata is awfully tempting though, the ND is surprisingly roomy inside for my 6'2" self. I certainly fit better than I did before the turkey knife and a hammer found their way into my NB interior.

I have no doubt your Hellcat is amusing. I've had fun with a friend's 392, and clearly more power would be more fun.

But for arguments sake, you're sitting on 6.5lb/hp. If you had a 500hp 3,200# car, straight line performance would be identical and handling and braking would be greatly improved. Of course that doesn't currently exist, at least in stock form, but it's not out of reach for an F8x.

Even having a smaller overall size is no guarantee the car is going to be light. Look at the E82 cars. They're the smallest of the recent modern line up from BMW and yet, they're still tipping the scales at over 3000 lbs.

Not just talking about Hellcats, though. I'm aware, I came from a modded C6Z. I wanted something I could drive all year this time.

M5 weighs over 4k lbs, Bentley Continental GT is over 5k. List goes on.

And none of those hold any appeal for me.

The same way the C7 holds less appeal to me than the C6 since it found a fat suit. Your C6Z was sort of the ideal Vette.

The flow of conversation was around 3000 pounds. Your single comment didn't redirect that. Re read it.

C7Z went to about 3,500 vs about 3,200 for C6Z. Hardly a fat suit. Top does not come off the C6. If I went back to a Vette, it would not be a C6Z for that reason + I want an A8, not a manual.

The new m3 is set to gain only about 10hp and to lose weight.
