I have bought and sold from Carmax and also Vroom. All transactions went off without a hitch. I have looked at Carvana online, but have not done business with them.
I think the Carmax extended warranty makes alot of sense if buying Euro, not so much for Japanese vehicles. |

Experience:
1. Bought a Lexus rx450h from Carvana, did not get warranty and just had regular maintenance at a shop that specializes in Lexus. It was probably more economical to pay all repairs out of pocket. In the end I sold it private bc I had a buyer willing to give me more than the highest bid (CarMax at the time). The reason for selling is bc the hybrid battery needed to be replaced and I was just ready to move on. I don’t think Carvana’s warranty would have covered it anyway. 2. Bought a 2022 Mini Countryman for the wife at CarMax. Super smooth, no issues. The car still had manufacturer warranty so did not spring for MaxCare. 3. Bought a 2018 X5 from CarMax with MaxCare. Found a couple minor issues within the first week and they dealt with it quickly. We found more issues within the first 90 days and they also dealt with it. They even gave us a loaner for nearly 2 weeks. They were very attentive and communication was great. |
