haha thanks, but knowing my luck.... I mean how many other people on this forum had a car damaged at port after waiting for 3 months and told they had to order another? in fact how many people have had their bmw totaled after exactly 3 months of owning it?(twice mind you, 3 times if you count the port accident in which bmw totaled the car themselves) knowing me... the car would blow up randomly while they load it on the truck))

I always do it right away. I don’t bother having it delivered there though. Instead, I just drive through neighborhoods and side streets to get to the ppf place to avoid rock chips. It may take an hour to go 20 miles but it’s safe.

All...I get you all want to protect your cars, but didn't you buy them to drive them? If you want a pristine car to trailer to shows, it will just sit in the garage - that's the only way you'll avoid rock chips and minor damage. Just accept that rock chips and small nicks and dents will happen in a normally driven car. Sure, PPF *may* help stop them, but honestly it sometimes costs less to just not PPF the car, let the rock chips happen, and then when you sell it just buy a new front bumper (you very well may be able to get a new front bumper for less than the cost of PPF'ing your car). You'll probably end up with a better looking car in the end (totally new bumper and paint) and this way it will also be way better for your mental health. You won't constantly be worrying while driving it when you've already accepted that you will just be replacing the front bumper later on. Besides, most likely the next owner won't give you any more money just because it has PPF on it...so why do it?
Just a different perspective... |

Also agreed on no additional money selling used because you have PPF. I know I wouldn't pay extra for it on a used car, and with the cost roughly $10k to PPF an entire car, that's a lot of dough saved. |

^^ You take the PPF off before selling - then have a paint surface underneath in immaculate condition. Yes - it can indirectly get you a higher resale.
Anyway - I like to look at my cars and drive them too. If you’re paying six figures for a car, you care how it looks. PPF didn’t used to exist - now it does. To me it’s a no-brainer. |
