Gyeon Iron for the wheels and Gyeon tire works pretty good for the tires. I've used P&S brake buster and wasn't too impressed. Sonax wheel cleaner is good also. I use diluted CarPro PERL for tire dressing. Works well for me. No sling.

I use Garage Therapy Wheel Shampoo and Garage Therapy Tyre Serum, my wheels are Gyeon ceramic coated (faces and barrels) so they are really easy to keep clean.

Wheel washing I just use whatever is in the bucket after washing the car, never seen much of a difference between that and a dedicated wheel cleaner.

Tire dressing I use AUTOGLYM Tyre Dressing, great on any rubber or hard plastic.
Wipe it on and leave it until dry it will leave a shinny surface, wipe it with a clean cloth before it dries it leaves a satin finish with a bit of shine.
They also have a good vinyl dressing.

Wheel cleaners in my eyes are just a gimmick. Treat the problem at its roots. Switch to low brake dust pads like akebeno euro's. Then wax or ceramic coat your wheels. At this point your wheels will stay cleaner longer. Then use carwash soap with a wheel brush to the dirt/film off your wheels. Make sure it is a pH neutral soap that won't strip the wax coating. There is not a single wheel cleaner that won't require mechanical agitation. so they really are pointless. All these foaming action cleaners and purple color change is a gimmick. Especially the purple color change which is basically chemicals reacting with the iron in the brake dust. Get rid of brake dust to begin with !

For tires I use carpro PERL.

I know I’m late in this chat but I just joined.
I use Dura Dressing it has the best cleaner and tire shine I’ve ever tried. The shine lasts 4-6 months. You need to do a good job with their cleaner for best results.

Do you have a part # for Akebono Ceramic front pads for a G82/G83. Akebono does not list a front pad option in the Euro section of their website or any website for that matter. Tire of being held hostage with promises of EBC red stuff pads coming......

Has anyone else found that once you use a tire shine product once or twice, the tires turn brown way more quickly afterwards? Even if I wash the car and use a wheel/tire cleaner and then don't apply a new coating of tire shine, I feel like the tires will turn brown way more than a tire that has never had tire shine put on. Is there anything to stop this?

This is such a beautiful answer. I think I've been saying the same thing for almost a decade on this forum. Knowledge is really power. Not even arguing on what is a gimmick or not, but what is stated above is absolutely correct. Detailing will ALWAYS require work. The products just aid making the process easier and easier. The key to the formula is consistency aka maintenance. It's really not that complicated.

Also to all those saying your tires get brown...clean your tires better. Get dedicated tire cleaners then try. It doesn't make any sense for the tire to brown unless it was dirty to begin with. Believe it or not the same concept for applying a ceramic to paint is the same for applying any level of tire shine to your tires. Granted getting some tires clean reuqire many many rounds of cleaning. You see white foam you're good. Any brown foam then you keep scrubbing. Happy detailing.

I use Blackfire Tire Gel or Carpro Perl, both give a nice matte black look and last a decent amount of time and no sling.

I saw Turtle Wax Hybrid Foaming wheel and tire cleaner here and decided to try it out. It's not terribly expensive ~ $11USD/bottle, and for my 4 wheels, I used about 40% of the bottle.

First, off, everyone knows how bad brake dust can be on the M cars. My cars wheels have never been cleaned and it has 900-miles on them. I apologize as I don't have a before shot, but I sprayed as directed, let it sit for a minute and agitated with some wheel cleaner brushes. I then hosed off. I would say the turtle wax stuff works as well as any other premium wheel cleaner, but you must agitate it to do a full clean. If you just spray on and hose off, it would not be a deep clean, but would still be decent for in-between washes.

Overall, i'm happy with the cleaner and will definitely get a few more bottles.

I always fall back on Meguiar's D14301 Non Acid Tire & Wheel Cleaner.
At 30 dollars a gallon diluted at 1:1, it is a deal. Works just as good as any tire cleaner and safe on wheels. Well anyway as safe as it gets.

Just because white foam is present does not mean all the goofy dressing stuff is gone.
Drying them when you think you have them clean would be the sure way. They have to have a uniform appearance.
I don't mind cleaning wheels because mine are all coated but tires suck rocks. I am always looking for tire coatings. I just got my bottle of CarPro Darkside to try out.
I have some TW Black Endura shine left, Black Pearl and BLAK D3 renew that I fall back on. Blak is the only one still available and a really nice product.
CarPro Blackout is $100 I am not going to spend.

I use chemical guys diablo and their signature series wheel cleaner spray on wait about a minute agitate with wheel brush and rinse off.

For tire dressing I go back and forth I was using chemical guys tire kicker and recently tried tier galactic black. I dont have any complaints on either.

I also spray the wheels with their hydro spin ceramic wheel detailer.

No complaints from me. I actually use all their products for cleaning. They have a store right up the street form me.

I will say they told me that the Walmart line of their products is labeled the same but it is not the same. Which I found to be absolutely true with the diablo wheel cleaner.

Couldn't agree more. It is a labor of love and a time consuming process. There is just no way around it. Products + knowledge should help you work smarter and not harder but at the end of the day elbow grease is needed.

Tire bloom. Antiozonants added to the tires oxidizing and I think some tire dressings accelerate the process. First thing you have to do to decrease this is clean the tire thoroughly, I first use a high pressure sprayer to remove the top layer of funk and oxidation. That alone will make the tire much blacker.
I think some of the better dressings use some form of polydimethylsiloxane (dimethylpolysiloxane, dimethicone)- silicones. Chemical Guys VRP, Chemical Guys TVD Silk Shine and Carpro Darkside use these. You can also buy purer forms of this on Amazon but it is expensive, best used for O-rings.
Back in the day, on our bicycles and motorcycles we used black shoe polish (wax) and there is one marketed specifically for tires, Soft99 Tire Wax, that I have not yet tried but it wouldn't surprise me if it is very similar to shoe polish. I'm going to try the wax and if anyone else does, here's a tip- after applying, use a heat gun or hair dryer on it before buffing out.
