Used ones are somewhat affordable. Currently there's a 2006 with 12k miles with a "but it now" price of 70k on Ebay. A lightly used Vantage or an M3? Decisions, decisions... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...3A1|240%3A1318 |

Exotic cars often use a lot of "cheaper" parts in the switchgear, in order to spend the money on the chassis and engine. No need to spend a bunch of money to reinvent the wheel so to speak.

i'd still go for the m3... i know someone who has a vantage and its constantly in and out of the workshop... its not as reliable as an M... but i guess for people who's buying the car as a weekend cruiser, it would be fine. i just cant afford to spend so much money on a car that is going to stay in the garage most of its life.

I'm not saying you're being a fanboy or anything, but I've never read anywhere that Vantage's are "in and out of the shop" all the time. I hang out on 6SpeedOnline, and ConsumerReviews all the time discussing these cars and everyone I know on those boards says the Vantage has been pretty rock solid for them. 2007-2008 models seem especially rock solid (a few over the 50,000 mile mark without any problems). The worst problems I've read about were the trunk can flood if you open it after rain, and the gas cap is kind of problematic, but no major mechanical things. (yes I've considered getting one for a while)
