In the end, it probably doesn’t matter much but what I heard is that once NACS is built into the BMW’s then they will be able to access most of the Tesla supercharging network.
Because this car can’t do DC fast charging, you may be able to just buy the NACS port later and swap them.

I actually have two SAE 1772 connectors in my garage so I was glad to see that connector.

Don’t know about the others, but iirc full leather isn’t available until early 2025

Maybe I don't get this but is there not going to be a competition package or is that something that might come later.

I see the M Drive professional option however, that just seems like software?

Just curious.

I saw several threads saying there won’t be a competition package. With that said there will certainly be some sort of Edtion model since those are big cash grabs for BMW

I know where to see individual colors, but are individual leathers online too??

MSRP for my M5 touring. I’ve bought a lot of BMW’s from this dealer.

Fully kitted is still pretty reasonable vs an RS6 performance. Like $20k less.

From what I understand from reviews, the battery motor exists only to boost the engine. If you try to drive on battery only, as soon as you hit a certain speed, the engine takes over. It’s a small battery and a standard outlet will be fine.

I’ll bet my left nut that they unveil a “Label” version or something similar before the end of ‘25.

The S68 is capable of close to 630HP as evidenced from the M5 CS. Add that in with max output from the electric motor and you’d be very close to 800HP.

I’m guessing BMW is waiting to see that Mercedes has up their sleeve with the upcoming E63 before fully showing their hand. Rest assured there’s plenty of sad bastards like myself that will gladly pay $30K over the “standard” car.

This is new BMW marketing strategy. They start with something basic and then add something else as new edition.
One example is 2020 M8 base model. That real M-car was introduced late 2019 and stopped late 2020 and then M8 competition introduced. It's ridiculous but M8 base did not have M seat belt with those 3 color stitches while even not true M cars (M440/M340/M550/M850) had these seat belts LOL. Then they added M seat belts to M8 Competition version.
So most probably sooner or later the G90 M5 Competition or some kind of edition will be introduced with Full leather / more CF interior trim such as paddle shifters / CF roof/ etc

I think people are getting confused with AC/DC charging. All BMW PHEVs are not currently capable of fast charging. An adaptor can’t solve this. MB offers some PHEVs with fast charging but even then it is maxed out to 60kwh. BMW can’t add this with a software update either. Maybe the next gen will have it, but I don’t even see the point in anything with less than 150 miles of range.

Most PHEV’s work this way. The electric motor will only work up to a certain speed. In my wife’s Lexus I think it is 80 mph.

Also, she has a bigger battery than the M5 and used a standard wall outlet for a few weeks and it was fine. She could totally charge from zero in about 10-12 hours.

I’m confident you could totally use the M5 charging with a normal outlet, but I have two chargers on retractable reels in my garage, so I’ll charge at the full 11 KW.

This is almost certainly correct. Takes about 11 hours to charge my Cayenne using a 120V outlet.

The connector question I had was not about charging speed but rather about connector compatibility and whether Tesla will allow BMW’s to access all of their superchargers not just the ones with magic docks.

No doubt for most cases, charging at home will be fine for a PHEV. However when you drive far enough or for several days, it is nice to be able to charge. Tesla supercharger access provides more options.

I really like this M5. Especially the hybrid setup. In town I can drive in full EV mode, saving gas and guzzling fuel for short trips. And then go full out on the highway or backroads. The whole package is really good.

I'm going to try to do an individual color and would be fine with a 2026 model, especially if it has a NACS connector.
I got a deposit in for a build slot for late spring/early summer delivery

Exactly why I’m interested in the M5 Touring.

I drive my kids to school almost every morning that’s only 5mins away. Starting my car in the morning is a pain because it’s loud and the cold starts wastes a ton of fuel. During the day I’m the one that picks them up and drives them around to sports activities all also 5-10mins away. Considering I’m not taking the car far I still need to spend $70-$80 on gas every week.

For these types of drives im not hauling ass around my town so there isn’t a need to fire up the engine. This is a huge benefit with the new M5 vs my current X5MC

the M5 interior options have been sadly decontented and neutered.

This. NACS really doesn't matter on a PHEV.

For some reason, touring profile looks much better than sedan. Sedan is disproportional like most modern bmw. I think bmw design need to do a lot of thinking why their cars are so disproportional and ugly. Also the plungin hybrid nonsense is ridiculous, I would never in my life buy plug-in hybrid, the whole idea does not make any sense and just to satisfy government regulations? Gas or good quality electric, but for me gas 100%!
