Too bad they don't perform. you keep saying 'rwhp' but these are awd.
400awhp is NOT possible on stock turbo without meth. If it was 93octane +meth with all supporting mods, it may be possible i'm not too sure.

I know it is possible on evo as they net around 420awhp/450awtq with 93octane + meth.

Like I said, if you don't plan on doing turbo upgrade and do serious stuff, Sti will be good. If you plan on going into 10's, or 9's on street tire, 93 octane pump gas pushing 35psi, ripping doors off of pretty much every thing, look no further than evo8, 9.

This is for your entertainment. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/B...deo_548112.htm

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 That looks so fucking clean. I would take that over an Evo X. Stick for me prease. Damn that grille and those headlights help the front so much. Those taillights are such an improvement too.

Actually the halos are added afermarket. Fairly cheaply too maybe $300 or so installed and thats 4hrs in labor.

If you want big power I'd say Evo IX MR. It has the aftermarket support and the block can handle it. To get over 400awhp you are looking at probably a FMIC with a rotated turbo and forged pistons so you don't blow the ringlands. Looking at a good $10k in mods to go that far including some suspension work (having it installed for you). More like $12-$14k for coilovers and BBK. That would be a beast when you are done but man thats alot of money to throw into a car IMO that you wouldn't be able to get out of it. Of course if you can afford a $50k car anyway and enjoy modding I say more power to you.

My friend is considering a 08 STI. Does anyone know if they still have that deal of 8k off sticker and 0.0% APR that was available in December?

Dude, you are spitting out wrong information all over the place. Please stop.
MR is no different than GSR, RS in terms of power making. In fact, the best trim to go with is RS because it is the lightest.

What is rotated turbo? All turbos' compressor and turbine rotate. Unless you meant reverse rotation turbo that comes STOCK on evo's. (excluding 10)
You DO NOT need upgraded internals to make 400awhp. When you're making close to 500awhp, that's when you upgrade.
These are the parts you will need to make 400awhp+
1. Turboback exhaust ($800)
2. Boost controller ($95)
3. Cams (272's or greater lift/duration) ($300)
4. fuel pump ($125)
5. FMIC/charge pipes ($700-$900)
6. injectors ($250)
7. meth injection ($350)
8. clutch ($1400) exedy twins (supporting mod)

That's grand total of about $4200 in parts. Even with installation and tune, you're looking at way less than $10k to make 400awhp/400awtq+ that makes for brutal street torque monster setup.

I've NEVER heard of ring issue on properly tuned evos that are only making 400awhp.

I think he was talking about the STi...not the EVO...I think the EVO has more potential to make power (easier to make power for the money).

Yes talking about the STI as far as costs. Should have seperated the two thoughts more. Was suggestion an Evo IX (and MR as it come stock with some nicer bits is all)if you wanted to go big power and then detailing what you would need to do to go big power on an 08 STI.

Its always cheaper to get alot of power out of an Evo IX than an STI. If you are talking about and Evo X then GSR is the way to go (no dual clutch to blow up).

As to the ringlands on the STI, its a concern but then lots of people will drop $3k or more on rims and tires so what's it to put in forged pistons which you should do if you want alot of power anyway.

^ I got cha now.
Evo IX MR 4th gear also tends to break at high hp.
5-speed is solid. 6-speed is relatively weak.
