Update (well, sort of )...
Just for the heck of it, I went to the Caddy dealer today and test drove a 2009 CTS-V. I'm not going to be as detailed like I was for my C63 AMG test drive, but let me just say a few things about this car: 1. Although I heard GM announced they came out of bankruptcy (thanks of course to all of OUR money given to them by the gov't ), I still assumed that b/c of the state of GM and the economy that GM would want to do everything they possibly can to move ALL remaining '09's off dealer lots to pave way for "a new beginning for GM" in 2010. Bad assumption on my part...NO major discounts, NO incentives (like 0.0% or 0.9% financing) on the '09 CTS-V (all others YES; just not on the CTS-V???). 2. Yes, it's a complete BEAST with more power than the MB C63 for sure AND you can feel it!!!! Yes, I know it has a detuned version of the 'Vette ZR1 supercharged engine making 556HP...crazy numbers for sure. 3. I'm not a GM fan by any means, but the CTS-V does have some european "feel" to it, although I still don't care for all the fake (or real???) chrome trim everywhere inside the car...tacky, imho. The Navi system is actually really nice...more impressive than my current '07 BMW 335i Navi system, although that's not really saying much. It does have some decent electronics and such, but definitely not quite as technologically advanced as a BMW. 4. Although the TQ was there (more so than the MB C63 AMG), it didn't really feel all that faster than my tuned 335i. I think that's mainly b/c of the weight and size of the Caddy CTS-V...it's much larger and MUCH heavier than my E92 335i. This car weighs > 4,200lbs!!! 5. I know the CTS-V is supposed to handle very well with it's magnetic suspension, and although I didn't get to test its handling capabilities, I just feel much more comfortable in my much more "tossable" 3,600lb. BMW 335i. 6. Similar mpg as the C63 AMG...12mpg city / 19mpg hwy...yuck! 7. Although I'm no spring chicken, for some reason, I still felt like I was driving an "old man's" car. 8. Once again, these cars' values are dropping like a rock (similar to the MB C63) and you can pick up a slightly used 2009 (w/ ~ 5k-10k mi.) CTS-V for about $50k-$55k (MSRP of $65k-$70k). So, here's the $100,000 question... why in the hell isn't GM allowing dealers to get rid of these CTS-V's (e.g. with 0% financing and major ~ $10k discounts)???????? Not that I want one, b/c if I were to buy a car like this, I would pick up a MB C63 AMG over the CTS-V (even if the CTS-V is a tad faster). Idiots! I still hate GM!
