The 2011 Stang actually has a chance of being lighter than the 2010. I remember reading that the new 5.0 actually weighs about 50lbs LESS than the outgoing 4.6

I dont care how much hp they have, look at the vid on youtube z06 vs GT500, z06 blows it away and the gt500 has a decent amount more hp. Those fords need something, just not sure what to get them faster than they currently run with how much hp they have.

It's not for me, but it's a lot of car for the money... a home run for Ford as far as I'm concerned. While I wouldn't trade my 335 for it, I'm sure I'd enjoy the hell out of it if I had one. I'm sure the sound alone would make it a fun car.

I read with the Bullitt (sp) package the car will pull .93 g's.

Dog it if you like but with a few tweaks this car could embarrass you real quick.

That motor is just begging to be opened up by the tuner companies.

Better yet, get the upcoming GT350 which is coming out with a supercharged version of the same ace 302 ci engine. It will probably be pushing 500 hp, looks sexy and will be very close in price to the 335, if not cheaper.

Fuel prices are bound to rebound though and the performance focus will likely be shifting to smaller displacement, agile, turboed performers like, well, the new M3. So Ford and Chev will be rolling out new gas guzzling V-8's just as their resurgence is ending.

Just don't expect that Euro cars will continue to be able to beat up on the same MY domestics at the drag strip much longer. It was't their forte anyway.

Probably has something to do with the fact that the Zo6 weighs 1000 pounds less than Gt500...

The Z06 is a monster but also a different type of car - you can't just compare horsepower figures and put two cars in the same league because they have similar power outputs. (Personally I think the GT500 is a pig) I think the same goes for the new 2011 mustang gt compared to our 335is. They are completely different types of cars. A lot of people in this thread have bashed the mustang but it is not trying to be a high tech, luxury performance coupe like the 335i. The reason why a lot of people like it is because it does remind them of muscle cars of the past - they know they are not going to get in it and lap a z06 or a 335i but the car will be a lot of fun to drive. The same goes for the suspension, interior and overall pricing. You can get a 2011 mustang GT for $20k less than a 335i.

I have had two mustangs and now have my 335i which I love. I love the sophistication of the bmw, plus the luxury aspect, comfort and features not to mention the amazing driving experience. Now that I have been out of college a few years and am a working professional what I look for in a car has evolved and I don't just want a loud ass big engine go fast in straight line car. That's why I love everything the 335i has to offer. However I am not going to say my car is better or worse than the mustang - it just depends on the type of driving experience you want. I have no plans to get a new 2011 mustang but at the same time I think it is awesome Ford is coming out with a sub $30k Mustang GT that punches more than 400hp stock. Just my two cents..

That's won't be happened for sure as 4L for 335i would be alleged as too much, I think 3.5L would be more appropriate, am I right?

The new mustangs will be ridiculous in terms of performance.. straight line and handling wise. Anyone who argues that is a moron.

WOW...

thats pretty sick considering the Mustang GT has always been pretty underpowered compared to its competitors. I still doubt its actual usable power for anything more than a drag strip. My buddy had a 6.0 GTO which was pretty fast 0-60 or hell 0-120 but he'd hit 90 on the highway in a turn and it felt like we were sliding across 3 lanes. I don't think I'll be switching anytime soon.

One of my buddies has a 2010 Bullitt. The thing is no joke, handling is very impressive, and the turned aluminum interior is

You really cannot compare the two cars.

They actually haven't had high horsepower numbers in previous gens. However, the ones that did i.e terminator would still eat a 335i alive mod for mod. I would love to own one of these new stangs for sure!

Ford has been doing well with their new engines... the ecoboost'd 6 cyl in the Taurus is pretty damn nice and this new 'stang looks to be back on par with what real american muscle cars should be. They've gotten back in the race in a lot of markets which is a very good thing for them. I suspect that the new '11 Explorer will also bring that model back up to the top ranks of the suv market too.

Since nobody has brought this up.... Gearing makes all the difference when it comes to actual street performance! One can be heavier and have more HP, and the other can be lighter and have less HP, but when it boils down to it, the gearing is what allows the engine to shine

Really? Then why is it matching M3 lap times? Honestly, read up on the new car and its handling abilities. It will destroy your E92 straight line and in the turns.

People like to restate what others on forums say as fact. Most of the time they really have no idea what they're talking about. Sheep.

As for the new 5.0L V8 powered Mustang, I can't wait to see what numbers this car runs with full bolt-ons. It should respond really well to mods like others have said.
