I would like for you to define "smoked" b/c sources show these cars are really close. Could the other guy not drive?

the m3 ran the 1/4 in 14.4** and i ran the 5.0 in 12.4** so i was 2ish seconds quicker i guess, the mc paddle shift so maybe that played a factor against my 6mt. idk

The M3 runs the 1/4 in mid/high 12's. And the DCT M3 is faster than the 6MT. Obviously the guy had no idea what he was doing. And based on most mag tests, the GT is around there too.

The mustang is a good car, no arguement there. But you get what you pay for. What you are getting is a V8 rear wheel drive pony car with a solid rear axle. I'm not knocking the car at all. I paid 35k for my last car (135i) and think that kind of money for a Mustang is a little insane. Everyone is different, some think that because a car is faster or handles better it is a superior car. I just don't think that is the case.
I applaud Ford for making the Mustang what it is today. We as the consumer benefit from the increased competition. I would trade one of my kidneys for an E92 M3, I can't say the same thing about the mustang.

I was pretty set on an M3, but after test driving a couple of them I just don't think they are worth the cost of entry. The worst part is that it isn't as good as it could be with no additional effort from BMW (steering feel and weight for starters).
I still may end up buying a used one, but I doubt it...time will tell. That is a great sounding engine. |

That's what I'm after next. I almost bought an M3, but it just doesn't get my juices flowing like that big 6.2L in the AMG does.

i love mustangs..especially the new 5.0. If i had enough money for a second car I would get the new 5.0
But I hope the new 5.0 owners don't think that they will be able to smoke the e9x M3s b/c if they do, it's probably b/c of driver error. And that's vice versa as well. M3 owners shouldn't be able to smoke a 5.0. I'm sure all of you guys have seen the motortrend video by now comparing both the new 5.0 and the e92 M3 and they seemed to have done an unbiased job. Enjoy your new car. Sounds like it'll be a blast |

It's not just about price. The M3 oozes with quality fit and finish compared to the Mustang. I find value in the overall package, not just performance numbers.

This place is starting to sound like the last forum i was on. Your money, your choice. Drive what you like. I could care less how many people liked or disliked my automobiles, as long as im happy. I wonder just how many M3 owers really give a dam that a mustang is now just as good? Wouldnt bother me at all.

The speedo and tach could be more modern in appearance though. I went to a local dealer to take closer look and test drive. But, not GT's with manual, only auto's. He said he would call me when one came in, bu that was about 3 weeks ago. That said, as far as people looking and admiring; I think they admire because it's the 'new' Mustang, which an American icon. But, next to my 135i ro 335i or, better yet, the M3, the GT doesn't look better. The GT still have too much stuck on trim pieces, and cosmetics that serve no function. The rear windows are as boring as boring gets. To get it to look better you have to stick on the louvers, which helps, but they look very much like stuck on plastic pieces with no sense of quality or flare. The added on hood bump, again looks fake and stuck on. The thing I still don't like about the Mustang is how tall it sits above its' wheels. That really takes away from it's monster performance. The new shape, overall, looks quite nice. It looks tighter and neater, but still, it needs to be lowered and it needs cooler side sills and front lower spoiler. My 135i gets a lot of looks and compliments, but it doesn't have a pedigree. So, people admire it for what it is, not it's history. It looks better and more unique than the GT. I saw a new Rousch GT the other day that had lots of cool body work. It was sitting a good bit lower covering the wheels nicely. It had a unique Rousch rear exhaust and diffuser, plus some awesome looking wheels. Very nice. The one next to a 135/335/M3 would easily get attention due it's look. The cool thing was that there was a brand spanking new GT right next to it, with the sold paper plate still on it. He was looking HARD at the Rousch. The lady driving the Rousch seemed quite happy with what she had. It is a sweet ride, but it cost a bit more. |

I don't know, that sounds a lot like justifying one's purchase. Who cares? Just enjoy what you buy, don't try to convince us why you did it.
