Nowhere did I read BMW will make this available only for cars built after 3/11. This app is a revenue generating item, it would be a fool not to let the existing iDrives work with it, as long as the hardware can support it.

Because it still streams radio.

That's the only reason how Apple could release it, they would not release an application that boasts "future" features, they need to work now. It's against the developer agreement

The current build combox is 6VC

Tried this today in my Sept build 2011.5 e93 M3 convertible...

Had to use the dock or cable to get connectivity to the app. The web radio worked, and that was it... none of the other apps or actual connectivity test actually worked. But I could stream the web radio fine.

Bluetooth worked fine for the phone still, but not with this app.

I do have the updated combox with all other functionality.

I have my 1200 mile service coming up for my break-in work, i will ask service if there is anything they can do.

Earlier posts indicated this functionality is hardware related. It would seem to be a good revenue stream for BMW to make a hardware upgrade possible for prior years, though there might be some warranty issues involved in doing so. Still, would seem like a no-brainer to keep customers happy.

You're good..... All vehicles except for the Xs will have the 6nr as an available option. You need the snap-in adapter for the "plugin" feature (which makes the idrive screen look like an ipod) and for video play back. Apps will not require snap-in and can be used with the standard usb cable.

I'm picking up my m3 03/28!!

Note: It will not be possible to retrofit 6NR on vehicles produced prior to 03/11 (04/11 for X models).
