I can relate to the OP, I bought a certified used 325i a while ago. On the first night I got it, I was out with a few friends. We went inside a store for a while and I got out and locked the car. When we came back to the car, it wouldn't start. I had to call my dad to jump start my just purchased car. Turned out the alternator and the battery died. It was an embarsing situation. On the other hand though, not one of my friends commented on it. They could obviously see how pissed off I was. But that was a long time ago, now we laugh about it. I find that BMW's have their fair share of problems but nothing drives better, so you take the good with the bad.

You have RFT's right? You sure those noises aren't coming from the tires themselves? They are REALLLLLLLY noisy compared to non-rft's

I think the comfort braking is something that you just have to get used to. I was adjusted to it the day I got in it, and just today I let my friend drive it around the parking lot and I was surprised at how jerky his braking was. He kept laughing cuz he drives an e46 and he says that these brakes are so much touchier.

My brakes have yet to squeak, but my iPod has had a few loading issues (longest wait time was about 10 secs).

Yeah the very few people who have driven my car have problems with the breaks.

As for the iPod connector. IMO it's junk. I haven't used mine since the week it was installed which was like 8 months ago. Loading took waaaaaaay too long, then it only loaded up to F, scrolling is also a pain in the ass w/o iDrive. Thank god I only paid $215.....installed

I wonder if the amount of songs on your iPod might have anything to do with your load times. Mine doesn't really have all that much on it tbh.

Your friends sound like a bunch of unfunny douches. Thats the lamest joke I've ever heard. Either way, let them drive their cars from now on.

Amen to that friend
I got my 335 AT cuz it's a sedan.. (all my other BMWs have been MT)
the TQ converter is very dodgy...

like off the line sometime it just kind bumps and takes off...
but none of my friends can give me hell about it, cuz it's WAY faster than any of their cars

+1 about your friends

I tell my friends "u dont like it, walk home..."

I don't think your friends did anything wrong...Friends clown and have fun w/ each other (at least that's what I do between my friends)...find a new dealer and have them take a look at your issues...in my case, some of my best friends have consistenty made fun of the fact Nav isn't touchscreen and other issues...but then again I quickly fire back and get on their cars and we all laugh

Sell the bimmer, get a Saturn. Then you'll really have a reason to be embarrased.

Finally someone who understands; thank you. My friends poke around and have fun with each other. It doesn't mean they are assholes or jerks. I would do the same thing if I was in their car. We are all guys, guys clown around; it's just our nature.

My friends are great and I know they didn't maliciously make fun of anything. I've known one of them since I was 3 and the other one since HS and the other friend for over 7 years. How many people that called my friends assholes can say that about their friends?

BMW sets a precedence of being a finely made car and these little quirks with it didn't live up to that. That's embarrassing for any car whether it be a BMW, MB, Audi, etc.

So what do your friends drive?

Typically when I entertain friends in my car, we turn off the radio, iPod, traction control and then we turn on the afterburners. All my friends laughed out loud when I first took them for a spin - boys in a rollercoaster. They understand why I bought the car and appreciate it for that - everything else (that works) is just a bonus.

Sure I wish the damn iPod connection was working - but that's no reason for embarassment.

We were downtown so I couldn't let loose unless I wanted to get pulled over and ruin my night.

My friends all do well, one of them has a 911 Turbo the other a MB CLS55 AMG with 20"'s and he also owns an Land Rover Sport that he customized . My other friend doesn't own a car, he lives in NY haha.

So I got this eclectic crew of buddies with me and they were excited to jump in my new car. It was embarrassing to have so many things act goofy all at the same time. Like I said, they were messing with me and they probably won't even mention it again. I'm just pissed because my car with less than 1,5k miles on it shouldn't be doing any of this shit.
