Always been a cat person but I love both dogs and cats. Had my share of dogs in my lifetime. Don't want that responsibility now. Dogs require more care. Cats are more independent and can be left on their own.
PS - when I was first married (49 years ago) we had a yellow Lab. Great dog. We had him since he was a puppy. Lived 13 years. Loved that dog. I was younger then and had more energy. |

However, I'm *definitely* a cat person-- my family had cats when I was growing up, and I've always had one (or more) after getting off of Active Duty (being gone 28 days a month really didn't make having any pet a viable option). My wife and I have two cats now, and they're simply four-legged members of the family-- we love them, and they love us. . In fact, Max (the RoboKitty) is curled up in my lap as I'm typing this. There are purrs. R.
