warmth didn't materialize, and suddenly we are socked in with fog. Bet it is warmer about at my house some 10 miles from the coast, which is sucking the moisture in off the ocean.

This has been the pattern ever since we moved here 23 years ago. Once or twice a winter we get dumped on, then the temps plummet for a week, guaranteeing the snow hangs around for ages. Of course it's going to be dangerously windy while it snows, making it nearly impossible to keep the roads or my driveway clear.
I hope my neighbor with the Kubota tractor and plow wants to come out and play with his toy.

Six inches of snow fell in the last 24-30 hours with a winter storm watch until 7:00am. 25° with a low of 15° tonight. Winds at 10 -15 mph. Just plain crappy.

We had a heavy dusting on New Year's Day, and a light dusting Saturday morning. The wind is still gusting over 20 MPH, but at least our highs are supposed to be around freezing. There's another snowstorm forecasted for tomorrow, but it looks like it is tracking south of us and we might see anything from bupkis to a dusting from it.....

Only about 4" so far. Easy enough to clear off the driveway. It's still snowing and is supposed to keep on until tomorrow morning, so there will be more shoveling.

Ran across a well made clip from satellite images showing the lake effect over the great lakes. This is from the last week or so. (mostly in the last half of the video)
That being said, we barely have had any snow here. Maybe 3" over the weekend. I'm definitely not in the snow belt even though the clouds say otherwise. |

Still coming down. Round Two of shoveling starting soon. Getting my exercise for the day, at least.

4" so far here in Cincinnati, OH with a lot more on the way. Calling for 5-8" over night with an additional 1-3" over the course of the morning / early afternoon hours tomorrow.
Will try and get pictures.

All that snow clearing I did yesterday was wasted. There was at least 6”-8” of heavy snow on the driveway this morning. It all blew back onto the driveway and then got another few inches of wet stuff on top of it. Thankfully, my neighbor wanted to play with his tractor.

For a snow forecast today from bupkis to a light dusting here, today's storm seems to be over-achieving. Temperature is 24 F with a light/fine/powdery snow falling right now.....
