Mine's worse in my left ear as well. But I've always attribute that to shooting in the military. Shooting righty meant the left ear was tilted slight more toward the end of the barrel. I remember my left ear ringing badly after firing without earplugs.

I did that for a game for my Texas Instruments TI-99. The program was saved on a standard cassette recorder.

We had one in a Texas Panhandle field operation I managed in the mid-70s. It passed data to the home office in the SF Bay Area, and not infrequently couldn't complete a transmission without interruption.

This was due to weather affecting the microwave relay transmission equipment that moved the data across the country. This equipment was generally located on towers about 30-50 miles apart.

In terms of completing a transmission without interruption, winter was the worst. Ice on the microwave dishes in New Mexico often resulted in interruptions to our data transmissions.

However, the software governing the transmissions took appropriate checkpoints (i.e., regular snapshots during the transmission, allowing the transfer to restart from those points after restarting), and we almost always succeeded in transmitting our data on time.

I was stationed in German when MTV launched. One of the guys went on leave to the U.S. and brought back an hours long tape of MTV vids. We watched that tape so many times I can still vividly recall it.

I was in Okinawa at that time. When I came back to the States, I couldn't get enough MTV. That lasted until they started doing more than just videos.
