maybe they could try to redesign the whole block. They have the money for it.. since it is going to be about 100K. Maybe they should try to increase the ltr side. I guess GM is too cheap to do some. I guess having supercharger is cost effective for gm since supercharge is cost way less than having some engineering to redesign it and r & D time.

I am getting this car but have a few complaints...The INTERIOR......The interior is hardly different from the Z06....I would atleast expect GM to step up and put some nicer seats and a nicer steering wheel in their flagship "supercar" corvette....Another thing that disappointed me was seeing that the engine was not naturally aspirated.

* looks at what the complainers of it being S/C'd drive. Is it because it breaks the tradition of the Corvette? Or is it because there is no R&D in just slapping a S/C on it?
It is a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. People complain that the domestics depend on displacement for HP or complain that they need forced induction. They had to do either to get the HP they wanted without making the ZR1 $200K+. |

Ferrari can get HP out of their NA 6.0liter V12 why cant GM.....I don't know whats worse throwing a V12 in a vette or Supercharging it......I guess its best that they threw a supercharger on it....Either way i rather have a high revving V8

not bad, not bad at all. i fear you can do better than that for that sticker price though. and the starving chevy dealers will probably put a $20k mark-up on it too.

How much does the Ferrari cost? How much does the ZR1 cost*? I am sure given the budget Ferrari has to develop an engine, GM could do a similar stunt. There is also the point of the LS series being OHV vs DOHC. Where DOHC can breath better. According to R&T, GM did think of boring it out to 8.3 liters, but thought it was too big for a Small Block and you would have the displacement whiners. GM can't win. BMW is using forced induction and I don't see anyone complaining......

A broad torque range = drivable. The LS9 like all other LS based engines is more a complete package than many other exotics. -Its light weight -It has plenty of torque -Plenty of power -Easy to manufacture -Easy to maintain -Fuel efficient (passes the gas guzzler tax unlike many exotics) -Strong after market support -and has an excellent packaging What it doesnt have compared to its exotic competitors are -High RPM -Low displacement -F1 sounding engine -and technology related acronyms |

With the new EPA testing, the ZR1 will get stuck with the gas guzzler tax. I think the Z06 now has it as well due to the new standards. But, Corvettes have been typically more fuel efficient then Ferrari's, Lambo's, etc with Porsche being the only ones really that could match the 'Vette.
