it is pretty fascinating that the things we can do these days compared to even just a couple of decades ago. there are injuries treated as a common thing today that would end an athletes' career not long ago.

guni - I have seen first hand (and been the victim) of some gruesome injuries in my life as a participant in a variety of sporting events...Compound fractures, broken nose, severely dislocated shoulders, fingers, ankles, and knees, and even ACL tears and ruptured Achilles....

Of these - the Compound fracture was the worst to see, but the SOUND a ruptured Achilles makes is something you'll never forget.

I think I've been more bummed out about that, than the fact that I had a serious injury that required surgery.

I totally fucked up my left ankle 3 years ago. I couldn't drive for 7months (I only drive manuals) and when I bought my M4, I hadn't driven a manual in 13 or so months (husband has automatics).

To be honest, walking with dogs never did help as much as a rehab as the damn car did. This spring I've been running again and I owe it all to a car!

So what, you can't drive now. It'll only make the reunion sweeter.

Removed some more staples today and got a new cast. Green this time. Been trying to get orange to match my F80 but they didn't have enough to do a full wrap.

Wound is healing well

Clutch works. I fucked up mine while hauling tree trunks and it probably saved my life in the end. Sadly, things that were normal before it are a joke now. A surgery would've sped up the recovery for me then, but I didn't have the time for the rehab then.or now. I'll sort it out when I'm old(er).

But it was hilarious. I hadn't driven a manual in a year and for the first week it hurt badly. The second week I stopped bitching and went with it since a slow response time wasn't an option anymore. M3/ 4 is rehab, not just an extension!

Exactly, and that's why I want to go into medicine.

Totally with you. My car has been at the shop getting upgrades, etc since mid December. It's finished next week. The problem is Friday I have hernia surgery and won't be able to drive a clutch for 5-6 weeks. Not happy.

I think with a full year it's easier to find what needs to be reattached, both ends, so you can do a smaller incision.

mine was partial. probably can't see exactly where the torn points are unless you open it up.

At least that would be my guess.

Let me guess, you're in your early 30s? I ruptured my first one (left) playing dodge ball. One year later, my second one (right), playing basketball. I was 31 and 32 when mine ruptured.

Are you on a soft or hard cast? Hard cast will put you on a longer rehab. Since it's been a month, recommend to start contracting your calf muscle as much as you can. It'll help when you begin your rehab. In the meantime, take a passenger seat and gather your thoughts, you'll be down for a bit, so chillax. No use of being anxious to get back on your feet and drive.

This list was not all inclusive of my injury list....mostly fingers, nose, ankle, shoulder, and back.

I've been incredibly blessed to have never injured a knee - considering the amount of jumps I've put on these legs.

The ruptured achilles I mentioned - I was blocking on the beach and the hitter injured his achilles on his last gather step to hit....I still get nauseous thinking about it.

Also - surprised you didn't have more swelling and bruising...

Spot on. Anesthesiology seems the most appealing to me based on job description (NOT INCOME, I didn't look at pay when I first read about the different specialties). I'm just a freshman in college, and what specialty I like could change during rotations in med school.

And now the hernia

Everything is still attached and still works so I guess I heal well. I played ice hockey. All the injuries were separate from each other. Guess I play too hard.
