It's really not bad at all. They all make sense, everything's where you need it. I like physical buttons over touchscreen menus for stuff like that, anyway.

The 4Runner, while bulletproof, is lightyears behind in technology. The nav is tiny and abysmal and, as with all late model Toyotas (I can say this since we own two), the car just feels cheap - the doors sound hollow and the interior is loaded with hard plastics. Oh, and who the hell designed the interior in the first place!? It looks like a Tonka truck!
My brother has an SR5 and every time he gets in my Grand Cherokee he is amazed at the difference in materials and tech. That's not saying much...

There may be a big change in the pipeline for he 4Runner line up. It is left off toyotas MY18 refresh calendar. But it did get aged very quickly once Toyota updated all the other cars. It's unfair to compare it the grand Cherokee as they are no longer competitors once the jeep went unibody it's more inline with a Highlander than a runner now. Nevertheless your point is still valid. But it just goes back to toyotas old design methods, if the cars share Chassis make em look alike. The taco and runner were so outdated for so long.

Ever since the Highlander emerged, sales of the 4Runner have been in the shitter. 99% of SUV buyers have no use for off-road capabilities and the Highlander offers more space, more comfort, and better amenities. The Highlander also drives like a car... because it basically is one.
The 4Runner was a rock star in the late 90s, early 00s. It was also a beautiful vehicle. It's just not anymore. Who the hell is running that program?!

Well sales of the runner are actually consistent with production actually. People still buy them for what they are, well my region they do.
The Highlander chassis is so tweaked in the 3rd gen it's on its own platform now. Most people are often into just the allure of what a truck/SUV is and quite frankly could be fine in a car tbh lol. Toyota struggles with the idea of watering down the 4Runner, I'm more disappointed in the aging sequoia than that of the 4Runner. But again the buyers of those vehicles just buy them so it works for them. Because they can put sequoia customers in cruisers who want more glitz or put those runner customers in Highlander's who want something fresh. Money still stays in the house. |

I already have a Toyota RAV4 and want to move into something a step above. As much as I am liking the XC90, the swedespeed board is full of threads of issues not just with the first year model but even with the 2017. Owners are reporting the car having being towed, I can't have that specially with kids and work schedule etc.

I love our X5. I would highly recommend it. We also have it with the optional 3rd row.

The money factor on the runner isn't the highest but it isn't the lowest either due to the a typical owner not leasing that vehicle. |

There have been some rumors of the 4Runner (and Sequoia for different reasons) being discontinued after this year for the US market. Its due for a refresh but Toyota doesn't want to update it for the US market due to EPA MPG standards and the RoW doesn't use the same engines as the US (4.0L production is also ending). They would rather shift production to meet RoW demand than doing what it needs for the US market.

Total sales in the U.S. for the X3, X4, X5 and X6 (includes all M's) in 2016 were less than the 4Runner.

Will concur on XC90 software is shit and blows up car..looks nice but Volvo mechanic friend says stay far away.
MDX is solid, had mine for 2.5 years 40k miles no issues, just boring as shit and feels like a barely upscaled Honda interior. The others as long as they are in warranty sound more exciting and badge/dealer service experience definitely above an Acura dealership Or go crazy risky and get new Jag SUV..they look sexy. |
