lower it. in Europe alot of the kids i met in France said that alcohol wasnt as hyped over there cuz they were aloud to drink from a young age. The reason why its hyped here is cuz we have to wait till were 21 but it dont matter cuz im 19 and alcohol is easier to get now a a days then ciggarettes

fcuk alcohol anyway... it's sad that people need this kinda shit, drugs and alcohol, to have "fun" or enjoy themselves... such people need to NOT feel like themselves (being drunk or high) to be happy? that's pretty fuggin sad... it's like "it sucks to function properly, I have to get drunk or get high and act like a clown or a dumbass and ruin other people's lives or beat my kids to entertain myself"... what a great population of people... stupid kids (and adults) running around drunk, fighting, getting in accidents and killing other SOBER people, etc etc... I'm sure you guys have heard the countless stories...............

It would be fair since 18 year olds can star in porns, smoke, and go to war, but then again, thats the backwards society we live in here. Other countries where drugs are legal, and the drinking age is lower don't seem to have the same problems as we do here b/c they're used to that sort of thing, so they don't abuse it. Personally, I'm not against it, OR for it... but the system we have now seems to be fine. (Although, if it was only lowered for girls, then a lot of bars & clubs wouldn't be such sausage fests...giggidy!)
As stated by Mrsteak, being able to kill, star in porn movies and smoke can be fine but having a drink? OH NOES. STOP THE PRESSES.

Honestly, we are all gonna die sometime. Being in a porno can kill you. Deadly HIV anyone? Smoking can lead to cancer and can ultimately kill. Going to war...well.....you are going to war, chances are you might end up coming back in a body bag.

Come on, you can give a gun to an 18 year old, but not a drink?

try giving a gun and a drink to an 18-y-o... and see what happens...

give em a WRX STI and a drink, see what happens

since they can drive, use a gun, etc at that age, It's good that they don't have access to alcohol at the same time...

Is it more ethical to be a DRUNK teenager, or a teenager allowed to drive? I think the answer is clear..

Some of us are actually connoisseurs. We enjoy the taste and trying different brews.

And no need to look down at everyone with a holier than thou attitude.

No matter what the drinking age is, kids are still going to find a way to buy alcohol.

Lowering the age to 18 will maybe reduce the whole mindset of:

"Oh, I'm underage but I have access to beer/liquor, I'm gonna get extremely wasted while I can"

i dont' think it'll make much difference 21y/o and 18y/o.
i dont think there are people on this forum that started only drinking after 21 becaue of the law. if there is, you can probably count them with just 1 hand.

The majority of people are NOT like you, they drink to get drunk and wasted and shit... I don't think 18-year-olds are connoisseurs... people don't have your attitude towards alcohol/drinks until they are at an older age... and yes 21 is much different than 18... people in highschool/freshmen year of college are more likely to be partying and fuggin around... at 21 most people are almost done with college and they calm down a bit more...............

I'm not "looking down"... I'm saying these dumb young teenagers view alcohol in a different way than adults do and ABUSE IT! So it shouldn't be made available to them...

At 18, I think people know its WRONG to kill other people... they know the consequences are jail, life sentence, death row etc.... also at 18, they DON'T see how its wrong to get drunk n get wasted, and abuse the liquor... they don't have such big responsibilities at that age and to them getting drunk is FUN, when in reality it can lead to all sorts of serious fugged up shit...... THEY DON'T SEE THAT...

I have to agree on the fact that it doesnt matter what age you set the law at, people will get their hands on drink if they really want to. There's no point just passing a law for the age limit to be 18 or 21 or whatever, if you are going to make the law it has to be enforced properly and I dont think it ever can be.

There's just too many ways for young people to get their hands on alcohol. Also, age is such a bad way to judge the maturity of people. I know people who are much older than 21 and still abuse alcohol and do stupid things, whereas you might find a sensible drinking 18 year old. There's no way you can make general statement or assumptions and I also stand by my statement that we wont see the responsible use of alcohol any time soon.
