Question: Since generally speaking, waxes shouldnt be applied to frozen colors, this begs the question, how do you get water to bead or sheet on these finishes? Or, conversely, dont you? Can you use a sealant instead?

Wait, they get $187 for a tin of wax? sheesh. Beasleys looks like the better deal if it works as well.

I used Dr. Beasleys Matte Bead Hero (think of it like a sealant for matte paint) and water beads off better than my other glossy cars with ceramic.

The product is awesome, and not too exopensive. I think $30 for a bottle, and I can apply it several times a year.

I know this thread is about pros and cons of BMW frozen paint and my question is fairly on topic.

So my x5 has a production date of 2/16(tm at the time of writing), and I have ordered the Brooklyn grey color I would love to make that into a matte color but am unsure how to go about that. I've heard that BMW frozen paints just have an additional coating which reduces the reflection of light off of the paint by 40%. So I was wondering if anyone has done this after-market, if it is even available, or if my only option is to get matte ppf (cost 7K). I think Brooklyn grey in matte would look absolutely stunning.

Matte ppf is the answer. Achieve the look you're going for while protecting your paint and keeping the option of reverting back to factory paint if you choose or when selling car. Brooklyn grey is pretty common color on many BMWs now, plenty of people have the matte wrap to give you a preview on how it'll look

Save yourself the trouble of the "frozen" paints
This is what I was going to recommend. Save the additional $3500 for the frozen paint and apply Xpel Stealth or a similar brand’s PPF. 👍🏻

Ok in that case I need to be looking for better rates cus 7K feels outrageous but it’s Matte oof. What are y’all’s thoughts on that. I don’t generally PPF my cars.
