We have 800 sq.ft plus 320 sq.ft terrace. Could not imagine needing more.

Americans that NEED 4000 sq.ft makes me laugh.

Joke went right over my head, but I support my fellow Charlotte and surrounding area members. I'm down in Waxhaw.

I lived on a boat for 25 years, does that count as living in a third world country?

Did you sell Phoenix? And now you have to post a pic of it

Yeah, she was a casualty of the 08 financial disturbance. I miss her everyday but it was a good 25 years and a guy like me is damn lucky to have had her that long.

Garage List
2019 X6 ///M  [10.00]
I’m currently in 2300 sq ft plus basement and 1 car garage. Is it more than what I need? Yes. Problem is the zoning. I don’t want to live on top of my neighbors. The zoning where I am says single family detached homes can be 50% of lot size so the builders maximize. Minimum lot for a one family detached is 4000’sq ft.

My previous house was 2000 sq ft, no basement with 1 car garage on a 6000 sq ft lot. I had a nice back yard with a pool. It was almost perfect. It took me 3 years to find it

I would love a 7000 or 8000 sq ft lot with a 2000 sq ft house and 2 car garage but they are unicorns. When the larger lots with old houses come on the market, the builders scoop them up, tear down the old house and break up the lot to build multiple houses. If I could design my own house, I could do with less square footage. Anything less than 2000 sq ft are semi detached. Not for me.

2800 sq./ft. for me. Including 720 sq/ft for my bedroom over my 30'X24' garage and 1500 sq./ft. finished basement.

House sits on a four acre lot.

I'd love to have 4 acres. Do you have to mow all of that?

Three acres are woods, one acre is grass. I have a lawn contractor taking care of the property. I look after my many flowers beds and veggie patch.

What do you do when you have 8 adults + 8 kids?

Also it takes too much time to get packed, go to the gym, workout and wait on equipment, then drive back. I like having a home gym.

Nobody needs it, but it is very easy to responsibly utilize 4000sqft with 2 kids and a guest room that is constantly being used, and a separate home office.

I could be happy with 1000sqft (one wife, one or two dogs), plus a good storage unit, or in the country a garage.
But I would totally like 1000 acres, pls.

Same. My big asks for a home, aside from the said square footage, are: a nice kitchen with either a built in wine bar or a separate wine room/cellar, a nice backyard, and a nice, clean garage.

After living in a "close zoning" neighborhood for several years, we decided it was time to find some space. I was tired of having to whisper to keep the neighbors from hearing everything we said. We bought a newly constructed home on five acres. It's modest for the area; 3 bedrooms, 3 bath, large kitchen, great room (no formal living room), large master suite. The house is a one story 2,700 square feet with a full 2,700 square foot basement (1,800 finished with theater, gym, pool table, craft room, wet bar, and bathroom), and a four car attached heated garage. I also have a detached 1,200 square foot garage/shop with lift, compressed air plumbed, and heat. Construction is just about complete on a 600 square foot deck with views of the Rocky Mountains from Pikes Peak to Wyoming. Way more than we need, but everything we've worked our entire lives to have when we retire.

We currently live in a 2,500 sq ft home and will close on our new house in South Carolina in a couple weeks. It is 3,800ish sq ft but for my wife and me the first floor (guessing about 2,000 sq ft) is our living space with master, office, den, kitchen etc and a second bedroom and bath for my 84 year old mother and 80+ father in-law. The second story has three bedrooms and a theater/entertainment room. I rarely see us going upstairs but it will accommodate visits from our two sons.
