Yeah, it will have wide fenders. M5 will be 7cm wider than the standard 5 series.

This is pretty accurate, based on spy shots and leaks. Model by Magnus Concepts. Touring looks even better.

This looks way better IMO. That small flare on the fenders and quarter panels give it a little more beefiness!

It’s not bad but not a timeless BMW design anymore. A few things looks off from a design perspective in every angle. Prior BMW designs felt more like the work of a unified team with a clear vision and leadership to make them look timeless. Now it feels like different teams with conflicting visions and leaderships come up with something each and they patch it all up together! Just how I see it.

A channel on YT (carwow) did really detailed renders that look more accurate to the teaser/leaks than anything out there, to my eyes. Based on the fact they released theirs 9 months ago, and their track record, I'm pretty sure they have someone on the inside, watch the first 3 mins:

Check with your dealership if they have a list going yet. I’ve been on the list for a Touring model for a good 10+ months at this point.

That’s a whole lot of black plastic in the front. Almost like a work truck. Seems to be the trend tho.

Oh dear. High-angle slope for the hood, as though the bonnet has been caught in the act of retracting; squinty rear lights above some try-hard angles that seem to be compensating for the sheer mass of uncontoured rear-end bulk; and a very flat side-on profile that now amount of fender bulging will rectify. They're clearly carrying forward the M5 lineage of elegant aggression... Still, at least they managed to ringfence the V8, against all regulative odds.

I think this is pretty close. Although I am not in the market for the G90, it is a bit too aggressive for my liking. I prefer luxury with a strong under tone of sportiness. This is more aftermarket kit aggressive with limited luxury under tones. I may get a different feel once the true car is revealed or I see it in person.

Of course, there is a trend towards making performance saloons and station wagons much more aggressive than their predecessors. For example, the RS6 is not so sleek anymore, which is what I really loved with C6 or C7 generations. Yes, C8 is insanely beautiful for my taste, but older models - are more elegant. Only car enthusiasts knew those models. Others can only notice that something is off (in a good way) with those cars. They were a bit like sleepers. That's why I am looking forward to M5 touring, in general, there would be fewer than sedans and not many would expect to see a performance car from a station wagon. Oh, and the rear lights are far better than the sedan. |
