Precisely. If the car sells well then I will happily remove my cricicism of the car. But, if the XM is any indication, this new M5 will not be successful.

I saw an article somewhere this week that the XM is the 2nd poorest selling BMW model in the USA, only behind the Z4.

The value proposition was way the hell off. The X5M kicks ass. The XM was way more money and not faster. It just does not make sense. Ugly too.

Very ugly. That would be among the reasons I'd never get one, although the number one reason being I don't drive SUVs.
But, it sounds/looks like the new M5 will just be an XM slightly lowered. |

Like It a lot so far. Let's wait for the tests, specially on track. Really curious to know if they have improved handling as much as they did with the new generation of M3 and M4. This would give me hope of better M5 CS in the future.

def no prize in being first- especially with this generation. Anxious to hear reviews and see different colors and member builds. Eyes will be on the touring and the LCI for this generation though

Is this thing gonna weigh 2500kg and only get about 75-100hp more? The power to weight ratio will go down compared to previous m5s. Might be faster in a straight line but can't see how this thing can be faster anywhere else without heavy electronic interference. And still, heavy AF, base model underpowered. Waiting for Competition, CS, etc.

I’m inclined to agree, but people said the same thing about the XM. I’m on a list for the touring, so I’m hoping it doesn’t disappoint.

Here we go. Everyone complaining about how it looks and the F90 looks better blah blah blah. Geesh, get over it. BMW's design language has changed and will continue to do so. If you don't like it, don't buy one. Easy as that.

Yeah
That’s the m5 first edition 1/400 that I proudly had one. Now I drive an IX. I’m not a proud man anymore. |

What is most disappointing is the ridiculous curb weight. This car is going to weigh within ~20pds of my 2022 X7 X-Drive 40i!
Just think about that…weighs almost as much as a 3 row behemoth!

It pained me to let my F90 go, but the lease was up and the F90 was on the way out. BMW did not have any other cool cars for me to consider, so they lost out on 2 car sales from me. It might be the first time in 25 years that I was in the market for a car and couldn't buy a BMW because I didn't like anything they offered. Never expected I would see that day. |
