People can say what they want if they want to be stuck on one thing about the new M5 (weight) but so far none of the reviews online nor new owners of the car made it sound like this thing can't make it around a track without sliding off the road.

Willing to bet the M5 will still out pace a lot cars weighing less and time will prove me right as more comparisons show up.

Anyone done proper baseline numbers on a G90 yet? I did it with a friend but constrained with cold weather here. Best we did was 11.2. My F90 isn’t the stock’est car but didn’t have trouble walking the G90. But then again I know it had downpipes

man, something here doesn't smell right lol-

in that 11.2 run, you trapped 191 km or 118 MPH lol?

and in the slower run, you trapped 202 km or 125?

this car is quite slow lol for 717 hp

I made a new thread about it, but in the 11.2 run we ran into traffic and had to slow down, so that’s why I would say there’s more in it. We tried again multiple times but couldn’t beat it mainly due to the surface being light snowy.

I weigh about 170lbs, so without me car would’ve likely done a 11.0 with the bad launch I’m guessing. In the 10’s with a good launch.

Not sure if it does anything but car isn’t broken in yet either.

I’m not sure I agree with that. A tuned RS6/RS7 is about the same power and also runs between a 10.9-11.2 quarter mile, even though the M5 is much heavier.

Now in actuality, I think the M5 may be closer to 700 at the wheels based on what IND saw with their dyno.

sounds like you are understanding how much the weight is actually hurting the car

Here is the most basic description of how a piggy back works. Typically the ECU would take a reading directly from the sensor for something like boost pressure. If the ECU does read enough boost it calls for more, if it reads too much boost the ECU lowers. A piggy back is installed between the ECU and the sensor. You unplug the sensor, plug that wire going to the ECU into the piggyback, and plug the piggyback into the sensor. Now when the sensor reads boost pressure, the piggyback intercepts that signal and give the ECU a false ready. For example, when the sensor sees 16 psi of boost, it will imitate the signal from the sensor as if it is only reading 10psi. This tricks the ECU into making more boost and power.

The JB4 is much more complex than this, but works on this principle. It tricks the ECU into thinking that it is getting different signals.
Just to note, piggybacks make the system reactive now. Since the boost reading was lowered, while be higher than what's reported, fuel trims have to be adjusted by the ECU on the fly. Personally, I never liked piggy backs compared to a proper tune.

I am not sure about a piggyback on a hybrid tbh, too many moving parts. Plus both the ev part and ice part’s warranty is gone

Why would it matter if its still able to obliterate 99% of the cars on the road and actual owners of these cars says the weight isn't an issue at all?

An F90 with downpipes and trans tune vs a stock G90 thats not even broken in is hardly a end all be all comparison. I'm sure you saw the Throttle House video which paints a different picture especially with a roll race.

I suspect for this class of hybrid super saloons this is the new norm for weight........unless you throw in a smaller engine which nobody wants.
