I see BEV M3 version as an addition to the family fleet. It won't replace any other car in our garage but will become a more energizing in-the-city vehicle.
When BEV M3 becomes available, I will subscribe to Akrapvoic exhaust sound (sigh ... and a business idea for Akrapovic). Regardless of how the car may look to the cautiously optimistic crowds, torque vectoring via 4 motors will be a game changer. |

Should be apparent by now that EVs are NOT the future and never were. EVs represent a component of a b.s. agenda that they have tried to cram down the consumer throats For those that say it is all related to government regulations and BMW had no choice . . . the same consumers that are voting with our wallets and saying we do not want your EVs, are the consumers that vote for government officials There is a new sheriff coming to town and his motto is, 'drill baby drill' !!! And for those that think this sheriff will not 'influence' what happens in Europe and around the world . . . the petro dollar is still king and has immense power to 'influence' policies ///Avera Edit: By the way, I do think the new M3 model shown in this thread LOOKS great |

There is nothing sacrilegious about an electric M. My M50 is considered and M-Lite but has 540hp and 586lb-ft of torque and will pull 1g on a freeway on/off ramp. So while I won't be buying one, I anticipate a 4 motor M-BEV with be an absolute beast.

Meh just another EV. 😴
Im sure it will appeal to those looking for a fancy new appliance to commute in, not so sure you will see many driving enthusiasts stepping out of an ICE performance car into one of these things.

Look at the end to end lifecycle costs of EVs including extracting the raw materials/minerals out of the ground and the complete lack of unified standards/regulations for EV battery recycling. Then consider their heavy weight, greatly increased wear on tires and brakes, added wear on roads. There is nothing environmentally friendly about them. The lack of charging infrastructure, long charging times, and depreciation rates are strong negatives as well. The previous Toyota CEO (Toyoda) had it right. For the materials in one EV he could build many small displacement hybrids and have much more benefit to the environment. (Orders of magnitude more)

I think this looks fantastic based on what’s visible. A stocky sedan with aggressive proportions sounds great to me. I have driven a combination of i3s and M3s for years. Having an electric M3 next to my next ICE vehicle and my i3 is all I want really. So nice to have options. Those who don’t want the BEV M3 will have an ICE variant, so stop all the fuss. Buy something else.

Is that why US EV sales continue to rise? Q3 2024 sales up 11% yoy. Electrified vehicles - BEV + hybrid - represent over 20% of US vehicle sales. That certainly isn’t “nobody”. Personally, I would not want a BEV M, but a well executed PHEV? Yes please.
