the speaker grill on the bottom of the front doors looks like it has a small opening to whatever is behind it, doesn't strike me as being part of the B&W sound system but could possibly be for the fake noise. I don't have the G90 yet so can't go digging but I wonder if they separated it.
This is the illuminated grill BMW deemed us not worthy to have but shows the speaker placement, assuming it's still under there on the G90 |

nordmanmg congrats on your G90 and MBB and Rossa Corsa M5s in your garage is truly mega. You mentioned the B&W sound is better than F90. I don’t think so. Leaving aside the technical spec differences and the cheap plastic speaker covers they have introduced in the G90, they sound quite underwhelming. Of course, it might depend the music we listen to, etc. On seats, I found the G90 rear seats were more inclined to better lock you in place and more comfortable than the F90. What do you think? Front seats, F90 feels better to me. To look and feel in person, the details, design, leather and stitching was better in the F90 in almost all interior aspects. Maybe it’s just me, I found the G90 merino leather questionable and the the neck plastic with the M5 badge was too much plastic with a hole to replace a classy embedded badge on the headrest. Again, all this depends on one’s physique and how the seats fit. For me, the F90 seats are up there right after the F8x Comp LCI seats, which had minimal adjustment options but just seemed to fit most people with excellent support, natural back ventilation for hot days and brilliant seating/ driving position. P.S. quite jealous of your garage. Enjoying good health mate! Last edited by TEGRITY; 12-31-2024 at 12:50 PM.. |

So 1 missing mid which I would think is center front of dash firing upward, and a bunch of tweeters. So maybe they are down in the bottom of the front doors but that seems a weird place to put them, I'm thinking they're stashed in next to the mids. Wish there was a map of the speaker layout like audi/porsche do |

Interesting. This review spells good and bad news for me unfortunately. Some things you mention are welcomed and leave me hopeful, somethings left me saying "that was my exact experience with an XM". I had an XM for a week, and hated it. I thought it drove like shit. Not the handling, handling was fine for an SUV, I would never expect it to handle as well as an M5, but for me it was everything else I wasnt impressed with. I thought it sounded cheap and tinn-y compared to my F90C. Exhaust sounded horrible inside and out in my opinion, reminded me of a 4 cylinder. The BW in the XM in my opinion was no where near as good as my BW in my F90C. But I also didnt turn off the M sound in the XM, so that could be part of it I suppose. Overall I left the XM telling myself, "if the XM is even remotely similar characteristics as the G90, I wont be buying a G90". Even still after owning my 2019 F90C with quite a few miles on it, I still get in it and feel like it feels more solid, and well built than the XM. The XM certainly had cool features and things about it, but no chance I would ever buy one. I rented it while my wife's G63 AMG was getting some warranty work done, and wanted to try one out, and see what the new G platform could be like, and have to say it felt no where near as nice as the G63, or my F90. Albeit, I havent driven a G90 yet, and I will before I make a final judgment, but im hoping some of the misses on the G90 are addressed with the 2026 model, or an introduction of a higher trim level. Last thing I will ADD! I had a hard time finding the knee support adjustment button also. But on the XM it was a button with in/on top of another button. Dont recall what one, but I remember hitting it and saying "ohhh there it is", I dont know if the M5 has it the same as XM or not, but XM was hard to locate also. I guess time will tell! |

See, I feel like B&W sounds way better in XM then in my F90 And B&W definitely sounds better than in F90. But again, you might feel different about it once you get into one. Knee bolster adjustment is in the iDrive menu. Fastest way to get to it is to hit the seat icon on the door, and then touch bolster on the seat diagram which pops in the main screen, and move it forward or backward using arrows on the screen |

I'm curious if BMW had this mid grill covers with speakers planned, and then just downgraded front door panels. Because rear doors looks way better then front ones

Does anyone know where to get these speaker covers. The ones that come in the G90 from factory are horrible.

Superman spec is always my secrete favourite.
Your comments on sound and speakers makes me wonder, that while in past generations BMW had made money on those options, today they need to actually make speakers good as speakers play such an important part in "piping" sound into the cabin, and creates the emotion that sells the car. Ill be honest, I like how new M5 looks. Its a tank. ITs not so stupidly aggressive like the M3, that looks very busy and nervous. The M5 is like a sumo wrestler today, and has somehow nicer personality. The previous gen M5 looks sharp, has that E34 aura about it in a way if you wanna place it within the M5s of old. It will remain a classic.
