Pure bred puppies are basically money. Leaving a puppy in a car is like leaving a grand (or more) visible in your car and hoping no one steals it. People will steal pure bred pups (or any puppy for that matter) if they have the chance. Sorry for your loss though. That really sucks.
People don't usually steal adult dogs. I'm pretty sure a pitbull or german shepherd pup would be a prime target for theft as well.

A dog is like family, how could people steal a family member?

Its either an animal freak who though the puppy was going to freeze to death (they don't know how long the little guy has been in a cold car and people are freaks about that sort of stuff) or it is someone who probably wanted a Valentines Day gift for his woman and just seized the opportunity.
Police report, fliers, craigslist and area pet stores are your best bet... Offer a decent reward and you may see some movement too. |

2) Where would he put it? Most places don't allow pets inside their stores so he couldn't take it with him. We let our old greyhounds inside the car all the time( our new one hates car rides) and they were safe and happy. 3) This question was already answered Blame your parents for raising such an insensitive ass! |

We always crated our puppy at home when we wanted to go catch a movie or a bite to eat. Investing in a small crate is the best thing you can do for a puppy. They are safe there.

Obviously, that is an exception. But, when you were just going in and out you didn't put your dog in harms way in a negligent manner.

Its not like people demand arrests for moms because they left their kids in the car while running into the bank or to get some milk or some shit (he was only gone 10 minutes, that isn't excessive by any means). Would it have been better for him to not bring the dog? Probably, but obviously some other factor made it a better idea to have him come with. Would he rather have NOT left the dog in the car, winter or not? most likely but I'm pretty damn sure bringing a pet into a resturanut or carry out place is against most health codes, even in Canada. Does he need posts from jackasses like you right now saying its not big deal or that he should be arrested? Absolutely not. Have a heart man, the dude just lost his puppy for christ sake... show some fuckin |

its my fault for bringing him along and stopping by for food while he was with me but i guess i didnt think someone would actually steal a dog from a locked car in broad daylight. i'll know better next time. hopefully he's being taken care of by someone that loves dog or was sold to a good home.
