BMW's quality and customer service is in the shitter right now. The HPFP fiasco is causing them to have to buy cars back from owners to prevent them being lemon lawed, so I don't think I'd go attempt to use quality as a reason for not comparing GM to BMW.

The LS3 in the Camaro is a 3rd generation aluminium small block, and if there's one thing GM knows how to do right, it's build a small block V8. The transmission is a Tremec, so there's no issue there either.

The list of issues I've had with my BMW is about 4 times as long as I've ever had with a GM car, and I'm not alone.

What are BMW's main problems outside of the HPFP disaster? I'm not saying they don't have quality issues, I'd just like to know. I guess there's the issue with the peeling soft-touch spray-on plastic.

I believe VW is still the reigning King of peeling soft plastic, still.

Things off the top of my head (I've had/have most of them)

Comfort Access not working properly
3rd brake light on the 1 series cracking (lots of them)
wing mirrors (double reflections at night)
paint (good luck EVER getting them to fix that)
software bugs in the HVAC controls
TPMS sensors not properly installed (tires leak down slowly, very common)
leather seats cracking
wastegate and turbo issues in general
transmission grinds on a 1-2 shift if you shift remotely fast
limp mode if tracked or driven hard when it's hot outside (especially the early 335i without the oil cooler)

As much as I love the way my car drives, the engineering isn't up the standard I expected, and it's not a fair assesment to say that BMW has superior quality over GM.

Chevrolet dealers are a bunch of morons (probably goes without saying). Way back the Volt was announced, we set our preconceptions aside and went to put a deposit down for one (whenever it was going to arrive).

Guess what?, that idiot salesman hadn't heard of the volt and asked my mother if wanted an Aveo. Never again....

GM and Ford brands have a higher JD power quality rating then BMW. And I feel BMW quality is on the downward slope.

Also Mini has the worest quality rating

The V8 SS I rented I was able to turn off traction control...

I have to say the Camaro SS even in automatic is a blast to drive. Anybody who thinks it's heavy or won't corner well needs to go drive one. In stock form it handles just as well if not better than my 335i. I would say close to how the 350Z handles.

The power is awesome! Rather than the smooth like butter N54 it's a loud and violent acceleration. Definitely faster than a stock 335.

The interior is very nice. The pictures don't do it justice. The painted panels are a nice touch and the gauges are very cool. The leather seats were also a nice material and comfortable all day driving down the Cali coast.

My only real complaints about the car was the rear visibility when changing lanes and the lack of headroom. Otherwise the car was very comfortable and a blast to drive.
I'm still amazed that you can pick up an SS for $32k, it's a steal!! If this was out a couple years ago I would have purchased it instead of the 350Z.
Now it's not really a possibility since I have a baby girl.
I think I would still prefer the BMW as a daily driver for the visibility issues and a little more comfort. Plus the BMW is still quieter and a smoother ride.

Definitely an awesome car if you're in the market for a not too expensive 2 door sports car.

I drove a new Dodge Charger with a 3.5l V6 "High Output" 250hp engine and it felt slower than a 1.6 litre 115hp Renault Megane.

So when you say 420hp in a big american car you really don't know what to expect.
Are you seriously comparing a 4200lb, 250hp family car to a 3800lb, 426hp muscle car?? That is a ridiculous statement... wahtever, it's not even worth arguing.
