Ask yourself if you actually have an Accutane deficiency and need to take some for the deficiency?

Adult acne is due to hormonal/endocrine issue and liver overload (leaky gut?) from my experience. What is causing that problem needs to be looked into. Nutrition and lifestyle will be a part of the puzzle.

so its a green light for me mates. As soon as he saw my face, he asked me "So, have you ever heard of Accutane" and after that, he got me singing all these wavers, watched a video and he gave me 3 Ipledge cards. Starting treatment this coming Friday and im excited. He told me that i will break out the first 2 weeks of treatment. Face should start clearing up by 80% the first few months. And expect dry lips.....I also asked him about those severe side effects and he said thats its highly very rare, same chances of wining the loto. The reasoning why Ipledge was creating was to inform women about the chances of having a child with birth defects when on Accutane. So, ill keep you guys posted. I'll probably do a Youtube video on it lol

Reviewing Hering's Law of Cure reveals that symptoms move from within outward. So something within is causing the outward symptom of acne. The same goes for many other dermatological conditions.

Young adults already have lots of hormonal changes going on, but stressors of various kinds can throw their bodies into chaos. For a modern, western 20 year it's stemming at least in part from poor nutrition, lifestyle, and other stressors (self esteem, relationships, family, school, financial, etc) causing a possible cascade of GI issues, liver overload, and endocrine dysruption (in no particular order). The skin is an organ of detoxification. Accutane can push these aforementioned weakened and overloaded symptoms over the edge in some people. Take a look at the accutane side effect for confirmation of this cascade.

http://www.drugwatch.com/accutane/side-effects.php

Accutane may exacerbate the underlying issue despite suppressing the symptoms of some people. The absence of symptoms is not a cure but rather a band aide for a greater underlying physiological problem. So, from my perspective, the idea of giving a pharmaceutical for long term use does nothing to address cause. What are the real underlying factors that would cause such a skin condition? In the short term, it may be a good idea to potentially help reduce symptoms but long term maybe another approach could work. That's my take. In the end, there is not right or wrong but what works for you.

Wow, $5 bucks. My insurance sucks. I think they covered only 80% for meds so I had to pay the other 20%. It was pricey, but well worth it in the end. Good luck.

Haha, clever.

I talked about Accutane with my toxicology professor the other day. He said that the doctors always leave it up to the patients because you are essentially poisoning yourself. He said some more stuff to back up his claim, but my head was already overloaded with the crap from his class prior to the discussion.

I just watched the all 3 vids from that kid. Man, I know some people would be suicidal in that scenario. He definitely has a heart of a lion to brave it out. Kudos to my man.

You have to find a doctor that will do "extractions" to help get rid of the big boils and cysts under the skin. Accutane is a great drug when used responsibly and monitored by a qualified specialist.

Scarring won't be an issue if the extractions are done properly.

And the dude in the video shows that people with serious acne can NOT help it. It's not because they don't wash their face enough or take care of their bodies. It's an unfortunate and insanely frustrating condition that needs serious medical attention.

I feel so bad for the guy...glad he is staying positive.

Exactly. This is why some people spend tons of money (in an attempt) to reach flawless skin. And there are those, say prisoners and homeless's, who just genetically have clear skin.

I just read his profile and apparently he lives around here. If I ever seem him, I'll tell him to keep his head up. It's hard...especially during the high school years where kids will be kids.

I used accutane too.

Before going on it I had to go away and read paperwork and sign forms even though I had already tried nearly every lotion and drug for acne. I also had regular blood tests and I was on it for initially 6 months.

To tell you the truth I noticed it helped big time but did dry skin out very bad and it used to flake off. Also my lips were fucked up and very dry. However, moisturiser helped a lot. Anyway, I was on it for 6 months and it didnt completely clear away but then I was on a reduced dosage for another 1/2 months and since then I have had zero breakouts. I get one random spot every couple of months but that is it. I do have medium scarring but that was through my own fault of touching spots. However, overall the drug was very good.

I know some of the dangers/effects such as sweating, bad night vision, depression etc. but for me I didnt get many side effects. I feel that you should rely on a good dermatologist's advice and be aware of side effects yourself so that you can tell the doctor and if they feel it is bad for you they can take you off it.

Also, one observation I have is that different drugs work differently on other people and what might work for me might not work for you. I know you have heard it before but be patient I'm sure eventually you'll find what works for you.

Good luck.

ive taken it before and i didnt suffer from much of any side effects other than dryness. Accutane is only prescribed by Dermatologist only. They require you to get a blood workup just to make sure that all is healthy before Rxing it. They also put a special sticker on the Rx from what i remembered 10+ yrs ago.

I took it in HS and it made me aggressive/depressed and started losing hair (quickly) so I stopped it, too many side effects for me.
