looks pretty underwhelming now...up close. looks like BMW has had a lot of influence on this design. it looks japanese in the same way current BMWs look japanese! haha

All week I was looking forward to seeing the car and then they still brought it with Camo.

Toyota, you are fake news!

Not officially, but insiders have hinted at a Oct or Nov unveiling. Either at LA or SEMA.

At Goodwood a Toyota official said production will start in the 1st quarter of 2019, and sales in the UK will began in the 2nd quarter.

Its a straight up BMW with a Toyota logo, LOL.

What exactly is coming from Toyota on this car?

I mean that interior is 100% BMW and the engine is BMW as well.

Is anyone else having a hard time with this? The MKIV was the end-all for me.

I will say that the size looks promising. I'm sure it will be fun to drive.
But this just seems like a "suped" up (pun intended) 86.

And at a starting price (for the V6) reported at $63k? No thanks!

What am I missing?

I'm assuming they're hoping there are enough enthusiasts like when the R35 debuted at a much much higher price tag than previous generations.

However why anyone would get this over the equivalent BMW would be beyond me.

Just a quibble, but it's a straight six. At least they didn't use a stupid V6 like Nissan and the R35.

Has there been any speculation on where the C8 is going to start? If it's within $10k of this car, that just about spells the end of the Supra.

Exactly. And the C7 had $10k incentives within 18 months of launch. This is the no mans land of sports cars. The Corvette will be faster, the Cayman/Boxster will be wildly more composed and fun to drive and lease returned F Types, 911's and AMG GT's will be wildly tempting too.

They should have just made this car a better thought out GT86 with a hybrid I6 setup and 400+ hp to compete with the $35k-$45k Mustang GT and Camaro SS. Pricing it above that will just lead to the same quick fizz out the overpriced and heavy Mk4 had. 12-18 months of decent sales and then crickets and incentives.

without a doubt i agree i feel like they forgot who their target market was. Then again maybe because of the mark up on the new Type R they thought they could get away with it as market was more than willing to shell out $$ for an overpriced FWD Type R.

But i doubt they see 12-18 months of decent sales; i'm thinking closer to 6-10 months.

edit: with seeing many returned because after the honeymoon stage people will not be able to justify the price for performance and swap out to a real performance car or drop down in $$ value.

I've seen two Type R's. I've seen more McLaren 720's than goober Civics. Like the S2000, once the dumb dealers stop being a-holes, people will start buying them, but that's another car that doesn't make a lot of sense when compared to Focus RS's, Golf R's and STI's. Much less Mustangs and Camaros.

It looks like it has the same proportions as a 2 series from BMW... i was expecting to be more in proportion with a 4 series than a 2 but wtv.

It's a two seater, and about 4inches shorter than a 2er and a foot shorter than an F32. Likely sixteen or so inches shorter than the G32.
