I always say I have a "coupe" unless its a car enthusiast asking. I tend to hang around a bunch of ultra-liberal/anti capitalism folks (academia) that tend to look down on people with what they perceive to be an unnecessary luxury like a BMW or Mercedes.
They don't care that my car cost less than a Honda Accord nor understand the hobby, so I just avoid that convo altogether. |

I normally just say "BMW" but if the person knows about cars, then I'll say "M5"

I do not get asked this question very often and being my first BMW I have pondered this question. So far when asked I have answered 'A 2 series BMW'. This appears to be more information than they even wanted, so I assume most people asking would not know what a M2C is.

Depends on which of my cars I'm driving.
If it's my BMW, it'll be one of the following: regular person - "3 series" car person - "F30 328i" people who know me - "the BMW"

Normally I say a BMW 1 series.
If there's someone who knows about cars I say a BMW M140i, and then usually we start discussin about the engine and performance level. To be Honest, it doest't happen often. The most curious I've ever experienced occured out from a take away pizza. I was with my girlfriend and we were seating near the car eating a pizza together, a family passed, and one of the children, I guess a 8year boy, stopped near the car. the father just continued walking as nothig has happend. The Young Boy said: "hey daddy it's an M 1 seires"! So I said him, you're an expert guy, you've got fine tastes! The father and the mother were speechless, but I said him, woul like to start up it? So his father said..."ok", i seated the child onto the driver seat and fired up the engine with him. The face it makes was a mix between happyness and joy. Then he told me: "one day I'll have one of these", and I told him: "for sure you will". It reminds me when I was a child, when my neighbour made a similar thing to me with his E36 M3 coupé 3.0. Sweet memories...... |

don't understand the question.
who cares what they think. i just say car. foreign or domestic? car. well yeah, but what brand? car. you're no fun. yep, foad. i don't know you. you don't need to know what i drive. people who know me know what i drive and i know what they drive and we don't care. so i'm guessing you're asking what if a stranger asks you what you drive. |

Yep
I'm paranoid. I still have a family threatening revenge six years later (more now since they lost their wrongful death lawsuit). Took my daughter and the dogs to the park yesterday and on the way back, people were milling around my car taking pics so I shooed them away. |
