Didn't get to go skimboarding.. -___- It floods more around here during tropical storms.
I sat on my back porch with my friend and dad during the hour before the eye, walked around in the eye for a bit, then went back to sleep.
A couple of tree limbs fell down in my pasture, and a small strip of shingle came off my roof, but that's it.
Was pretty cool, I expected to be able to see stars in the eye but it capped off after it passed over Galveston.
My double pane windows were being pushed in from all the pressure, you could feel it come in a few millimeters.

A good amount of Shore Acres had 4ft of water in their homes. (One of my friends got an inch while a few others had 4ft)
The yacht club there was destroyed, a lot of the boats were missing or up on shore a good 50-100 ft.

I've been housing/feeding/etc.. 3-4 friends for the past week because their houses got fucked..
It was like summer all over again, except all we had was a generator to run the fridge, ac, a few lights, and a small tv.
Other than helping them clean up their houses, and almost everything being closed, everything has gone on as normal. Frisbee, tennis and etc..

I would like to point out that the mayor of La Porte and Cops are idiots.
Up to 2/3 days after the storm they wouldn't let anyone in to La Porte/Shore Acres, even if you had an ID that showed that you lived in the area. (For fear of "looting")
A lot of my friends had water damage/flooding in their homes because of this bullshit. They couldn't get back to their homes to tarp/fix their roof before the rain hit the day after, and they got fucked.

They had every major intersection blocked off, exit ramps, and etc.. Makes you wonder wtf they were doing to help people, when they were sitting there on their asses all day long. The flood water receded within hours after the storm, so there was no reason to stop anyone that lived in the area from coming in unless roads had debri on them, which they didn't. So they basically let everyone back in 3 days later, with the same exact damage everywhere, for no reason other than "fear of looting". I don't think that they understand that people loot when others aren't home, so looting wouldn't be a problem if they let the residents in.
