Wait a few more years, and you'll think that the 27" iMac screen is too small for daily use.....

I basically only use desktops. Have a nice rig at home and at the office. My laptop is only for when i travel for work. I like my big screens!

Desktop over laptop everyday for me. I build a new water-cooled behemoth every few years and the laptop is used as a diagnostic tool for the cars.

desktop in the living room hooked up to the 70" 4k tv. Used for gaming, movies, youtube, surfing the web when i'm at home. unfortunately all the gaming has to be done with a controller. trying to sit on a couch with a mouse and keyboard is just terrible for posture.
Use the laptop (blade stealth) for photoshop and work. computer is probably due for an overhaul. but i'm gonna wait until gfx card prices come down before going down that hole. 1080gtx is holding me over for the moment. |

MacBook Pro w/dual monitors and iPad.
I use to have an iMac and Laptop, PITA to keep things synchronized even w/iCloud. I like the laptop b/c I'm not chained to my desk. iPad is nice to browse or read but I hate it for comparisons, multiple browser windows. |

Both.
Personal/Home use - One desktop used as a media center connected to the TV in the living room. One desktop connected to a 32" monitor in the same room, originally used for online fuckery, I won't elaborate. Asus laptop that gets used all over and for work at time. Mostly I use my phone and smart casting as a bigger monitor. Work - Desktop and laptop. Desktop has 2 24" monitors and is used as my work horse. The laptop that resides next to the desktop has a second monitor and is used for network/testing type stuffs. |

I walk around the house with the laptop.
I do have a Ryzen desktop with two RTX 3080's in the ATX case for more serious tasks.

Me and my kids used to play video games. We prefer desktop mainly as it's more capable than a laptop for playing in a long period of time. We can also upgrade any parts needed if a specific game needs it.

What kind of workload are you using the 3080's for? They don't support SLI, so was curious of the benefit of two vs a single 3090

my office
it's a i7 7700k with 16gb of ram and a samsung 980 pro ssd. My play laptop is an Alienware and I have an old Dell 640 to communicate with cars, PLC's etc. (serial ports are a must for some things) I have an Ubuntu backup server running Samba and using Raid 10 with four 10Tb drives. My media box/gaming box in the living room is an i7 9600k with 16gb Ram and a 1Tb Samsung 980 Pro also. The display for this is a Sony 55'' Bravia. My firewall is a Raspberry Pi4.

Desktop all day over a laptop. it’s 200x more powerful. Use it for day to day stuff, processing astrophotography, studio mixing, and gaming. Have a studio setup with 48” oled monitor. Laptops are poor for any thing that requires horsepower for more than a few seconds. I do own multiple laptops though… handy when I do stuff on the go, but never pick to use the laptop over the destop when home.
