GTI or a R32.. new or used.

Coupe with stick... Old R32 has a incredible sound and coems in stock, has AWD and is just alot of fun to driver everyday! the seats are awesome and the steering is actually very good.

The GTI used older body might be cheaper, but still alot fun to drive in the coupe/stick config!

Both are in a pretty decent price range for a DD....

Plus you can get it in manual vs DSG for the MKV but all these cars are not beaters the old Volvo in page 1 is a beater. An s2k is far from being a beater it's more then a toy then a practical car.

Very true, as i listed the VW's as DD... For a beater my price tag is under 5k, and even 5k being a bit high.

92 honda accord is my beater. 4 cyl and 4 door, awesome on mpg, comfortable, and practical, and a big trunk, and most importantly, reliable.

Eh, don't sell it. Grad school will be over before you know it and you will be making some decent money. The money you would have "banked" will be trivial at that point and you would have had a great time through out college enjoying your ride.

A true beater? E30 325e. Good gas mileage, fun to throw around, don't have to worry if it gets dinged/dented/scraped.

It says you have a 96 tahoe? Why not just sell the BMW and drive that?

lol, the RSX type S is basically a more expensive civic with an "A" badge on it.. so yeah, considering that, i'm not really impressed with it either..

wow, to me beater is a car less than $5k. the word "beater" kind of implies "a car you can beat the shit out of and not care"... all you guys are throwing out $30k cars, idk about you, even if i could afford a car like that for a "beater", i would still be pissed if it ever got dinged and i def wouldn't treat a car that much like a beater...

my mother used to drive a MB 400E until 4 years ago... her car was definetely not reliable, in any sense of the word, was in the shop quite often, and repairs were very expensive for that thing.

agree on both the rsx-s and g35 but the brembos weren't all that great. more of a bling factor but the reason they were replaced from 05+ is due to the excessive premature wear.

I have actually been thinking about a used '09 or '10 GTI. Ive never driven one, but they are supposed to be really good, fun cars for the money. An R32 would be a little too boy racer-ish for me.

Yea, the more I think about it, the more I start to feel that life is too short to drive a boring car. I drove a legit beater ( a busted ass Mitsu Montero Sport ) for a few months while my 335 was on order, and I hated life. Thats why I think Im going to end up with an M coupe.

here's my succession of daily beaters from old to current. My beaters requirements were
~my swiss army of cars
~can go to walmart and park in the front on christmas eve w/o worry of dings or meth heads hitting you
~safety!! You're driving it everyday
~can still use it on weekends for fun
~easy to repair if damaged
~fits my business needs

Seems many people define "beater" the same way I would define a "daily".
i was thinking the same thing. thats how i know im in a different tax bracket then everyone here lol

I currently sport an RSX Type s. It's fun, quick, and comfortable and I easily get 28 MPG. Mine is an 06', but I betg you could find an 02-03 for really cheap.
