BMW "fanboys" you realize you're on a BMW specific forum, right?

I think it is much more interesting were the previous M Head of Chassis and Powertrain Development went? Or maybe there hasn't been any since they finished the development of the M3 V8?

Perhaps the next generation (post F8x) M3/M4 will share an engine with the larger M cars.

That used to be true with previous M5's, the F10 M5 usually loses in that category.
And What you hear behind the wheel of an AMG car is real engine sound, no need for fake engine sound.

as a huge fan of AMG (and also M, actually, im a huge fan of alot of things) I welcome this news. What concerns me is if ///M mimics AMG philosophies.

To me:
AMG- True German Hotrods
///M- Track Machines

two different animals imo. hopefully, M stays true to their nature, while perhaps adding a 'black' series of cars as per rumours if you know what I mean.

Good get by BMW. Meyer did a great job at MB, hopefully he'll have the freedom to work his magic.

I think this is a good move. BMW needs some extreme performance machines that can rival the SLS and the R8 as mentioned. Although cars like the c63 AMG are better at smoking tire than going around corners like an M3, I think BMW needs some cars that are just bonkers to drive..something that has that ///M magic, but not as "refined".

Thank you sir i can not agree with you more. And i cant stand people who bash the other brand you have to realize two different markets

Remember the Bangle design disaster??

Yes one can derail a lot...
Despite what some people think of his designs...BMW overtook Mercedes and became the number one premium car brand during the Bangle era.

The current crop of BMWs are also evolutions of his designs.
+1

Absolutely.

thing is
i doubt he submitted his resume to BMW
which means BMW were actively trying to employ him
so i assume he knows something that BMW is trying to do, and can't do with its current crop of engineers

turbocharging without a HPFP failure maybe?

only thing that surprises me is he's a racer at heart, not a marketing type person
which is what, it seems, the current status of BMW M is

I think he was employed due to the "M8" project.
Since MB has more experience with "super-cars"?

To everyone who thinks AMG master won't help out M division, please think again.
His knowledge on AMG will only spice up M further into the areas where M didn't think into or limited because of R&D fund isn't enough to widen the base.
This is a great news.

Most non-compete agreements are not enforceable. I don't think it will be an issue.

Personally, I think he was tired of designing the chassis for cars that always brake down...
