Exactly. Driver was incredibly stupid. Hopefully he learned from this, because I'm sure he is not that much of a tool to not care about human life. He just got carried away.

Devils advocate...Ive had 5 or 6 6 cars over 300HP...Never lost it going sideways from a stop (wouldn't call that drifting)...
In my E92 M3 2 or 3 times did the exact same thing. I also only would do things like that where there was nothing to hit, not an open roa, mid day, with people and traffic... But the rear going that far out, even full throttle and countersteer, the cars too just to heavy to throttle out...I learned early in that car when going "sideways" don't go anywhere as far out as this guy goes its almost impossible (for me) to keep the car controlled. Tried less counter steer so all that weight didnt have so much momentum, but even then didnt spin out, but def felt like i was out of control for a bit... My $.02

Honestly, there's no analysis warranted for this shit. It was a completely uncontrolled slide on public roads. If you want to learn how to control a slide, go to a racing school.

Shit happens! He just wanted to impress some people. Its easy for all of us to judge the guy but the truth is we are all car guys and all have done stupid shit one time or another. The only difference is that its not on video for everyone to judge us. He's probably a decent guy.
I do agree that if you are going to drive hard, practice in a controlled environment. |

Except that one time where I understeered my MR2 in to a ditch. Or that other time where I ended up facing the wrong way in an intersection driving my '83 Rabbit. Or that one other time where I drove in to a parked truck because my windshield was so fogged up and I wasn't patient enough to wait for it to clear. Or that other time... Well, you get the idea. I'd never do something dumb in an automobile

Do you think he had the traction control all the way off right? I've never played hard without any safety features, but I heard BRZs are pretty snappy even in sport mode.

Although if anyone loses control in an M2 you should be shot....Ive never felt anything like the controlability of that car on 2 wheels...Its incredible...I cannot fathom doing what this guy did in an M2 ever, no matter what...a 12 year old girl woulda saved that.

100% you can't "ass out unless yout DSC is off...Newer models u have to go out of your way and Hold it for 5-10 seconds...The older E series you could just turn it off one button, making it thank much easier to be an idiot.

Is that what the car track guys describe as a tank slapper? I ride motorcycles on the track and my definition of a tank slapper is totally different. |

It's really more of a motorcycle term but I use it colloquially to describe a slide in a car that involves three or four rapid slides and then overcorrections, causing the back end to oscillate back and forth.
