I've had the same thoughts when comparing the F-Type and C7, but still a tough choice. I'm not in the market for another car yet anyway, so it doesn't really matter at this point for me.

Would prefer the 6MT, but just too hard to find that meet our criteria.

I'd do a Ftype over a vette every day, there's just less of them on the road.

Ah yes. Remember that time when Australia won the Rugby world cup? You don't? I mean, I know it was last millennium since they won, but hopefully you remember....

Something like 20 years ago? I can't recall, it's been so long, maybe you could jog my memory...

When did SA win last? Oh, it was last year? Thanks, I almost forgot.

hehe.

F-Type does sound really, really good. Probably one of the best sounding cars. Sounds angry all the time.

The Rugby you know is a god awful game, it's nearly dead in Australia and the saffers play the dourest brand of a dour game. Rugby League is a far, far superior sport, no contest.

It's okay to be mad. Maybe the Aussies will remember how to play again one day?

(all in jest, of course)

More of a 7's fan myself, but probably a sore subject for Aussies too as its either the SA's or Kiwis dominating that too.

Nah I don't think we will ever improve much TBH. Rugby would sit behind Aussie Rules, Cricket, Rugby League and Soccer for sure, with even Tennis giving it a run. League will pull 2 million eye balls for the big games and Union not even a quarter of that.

It's in all sorts from the ground up, not sure how they turn it around as finances are a mess too, they've simply been squeezed out by other sports and TBH the rules of the game hold it back in a big way.

Went to a couple of cricket match with my wife before. Told her it seemed a bit boring to me.

She told me no one really goes to a match to actually watch them play - it's just a place to go and sit on the grass, drink beer, and stare at pretty girls in bikini's.

She's not wrong.

She is 1000 percent right. Need to be careful of sun stroke though, mate of mine was dropping beers like it was water in the blazing sun and we were going beer-water-beer-water with a hat on. He went beer-beer-beer ....no hat. That night was damn ugly .... ugly scenes.

So we ran into a pickle this weekend. Chain of events:

1) Went to check out the Jaguar F-Type. Loved the car, little worried there is no backseat of any kind. This is okay, but would prefer something back there. Not a deal breaker.

2) Upon further research, decided not to bother looking at the Maserati.

3) They had an Alfa Quad. She wanted to drive it. She loved it.

This proposes a problem, since the plan was for me to buy a Giulia Quad in a few months. We can't have two of them in the garage. This is also way over her budget. Told her she can get it if she wants, but the overage is coming from her personal funds, not mine and if she gets one, then that's the car with the backseat and I am grabbing a new Supra.

The saga continues.

She also loves the BMW i8, but this is also over budget.

Need? Probably not. Want? Probably.

Supra would be the daily. Vastly different cars - Supra is a Camry compared to the 4C.

So you get 2 sports cars and the wife can't have one car? I'm sensing some inequity in this relationship.

You understand that I am trying to convince her to buy a Jag F-Type, right?

Each to his own but always puzzles me a bit when couples split finances, you're either in this together or not has been my motto.

That would be best suited for another thread - but bottom line - we do both. We combine all shared expenses and have joint accounts. We also have individual accounts where a certain amount each month is automatically moved from the joint accts to the individual accounts. These accounts are then used for various personal things that the individual can buy without having to consult with the other party.

This prevents surprises that many marriages face, such as "what did you spend x on!!!" - oh, it was a handbag. No issue here, because that handbag didn't come out of the joint acct, it came from the personal acct. It also prevents having to have a discussion on every little item.

We have been happily married for nearly a decade and have never had a money fight - so it is working for us.

Here are the specifics:

a. Looking for something that stands out from the crowd, unique in a parking lot.
b. Price point is around $30K - $35K.
c. Must be 2012 or newer and less than 40K miles on it.
d. Needs to be moderately reliable as this will be a daily driver.
e. Prefer manual or DCT, but would consider an automatic if it was the right car.
f. Maint costs or upkeep costs are not really an issue, within reason.
g. Would prefer at least a minimal backseat to use in a pinch, but not required.
h. Must be fun to drive and enjoyable.

Some ideas that are currently on the table are a 2009+ Porsche Cayman but worried about it being too old, also 2018 or 2019 Alfa Giulia Ti 2.0T seems to be of interest. Another option was the Focus RS, but not very cool looking. The Miata RF was another choice, but worried about performance. Thought about the BMW M235 or M240, but she finds them boring looking.
2106-2018 Miata RF + Edlebrock S/C?
