It actually looked smaller in the rear. I think mainly due to the seats being a bit bulkier than the F22 options. Here is a couple of shots after I set the drivers seat to a good position for me. No one can sit behind me. |

Does anyone know how to take a picture of the back of a car? Stand directly behind it about 10 feet away and take the picture.
It sounds like I'm the exception but I basically like everything about this design and I actually really like the rear of the car (I'm an F87 M2 owner) I think they'll have a nice aggressive front end for the M2. M2, Black, manual, window tint, non-black interior. (Brown or another colour depending on what's offered)

The more I look at this thing, the more I like it.
Just wish it had a 6MT.

Have they run out of ideas? Seems like they are trying too hard and there's a complete disconnect with cohesiveness and flow throughout the design. The hood's not bad but that's about it!

First of all this isn't the first BMW that looks a lot better on freestyle amateur instagram pictures compared to the press shots, so BMW needs to address the way/lighting of how they present the cars. I kinda dig the front a lot more than I initially did and the side looks amazing.
Its very obvious though what's wrong with this car. One of BMWs new design principles seems to be removing the line that usually runs through the doorhandle from front to back and keep it almost flat at the center, but going wide substantially towards the front and back of the car. That does look very nice! They did this with the G8X as well, but the problem with the 2 Series is that the narrow rearlights cannot fill the space between one another in a proper way because of the increased width and lower wider starting point of the rearlights. The GX8 has wider rearlights as 3/4 series traditionally have, so it works for those. They also can't put the rearlights closer to another because they'd end up being to far inside with a large gap towards the outer lines of the car which would also look horrible, especially on the M2. To make this work they will need elongated rearlights once the LCI comes but we all know that's not going to happen so we will need to get used to it! |

What do I think?
Probably most won't care, but here it is:
After all the anticipation and then comments when it’s finally released I decided it’s time to post an opinion. And of course, it’s my opinion. I really wanted this to be a smaller 2 door G20 for $10k less. Just what I wanted for my next car. Needless to say, I’m pretty disappointed. It really coulda been great, but why oh why BMW couldn’t you: -Give it a curved headlight frame like the 8 series. The crease is polarizing. -Give it rounded square intakes like the 8, or elongated like the 5. Again, the triangles are polarizing and don’t flow with the body. -The taillight? C’Mon BMW, why the ugly hook? Why dot straight across like the X5, or very similar to the 8, those are great. Once again, an odd shape that doesn’t flow with the body. And take out the damn clear plastic. -Rocker panels and rear diffuser in black? That looks cheap, like something you would find on a KIA Soul teenager car. If I did get one the first thing I have to do is have those painted body color, especially in white or the new gray color. Ugh. I could live with that black, but I don’t think this car looks best in black. -Why couldn’t the M240 get the round exhaust? These again look like something from a Lexus or Toyota. Fail. Even MB had replaced some of theirs with round or round quad. Not what a BMW should have. I have to say the purple is stunning, but not for me. It says “look at me” too much and I'm not a selfish person. At least it wasn’t seriously fugly like the G22, but why couldn’t it take a lot of cues from the 8. Another poster even has this “The M850i is evidence that BMW have got their mojo back when it comes to dynamic sports cars” in their sig. The 850 has graceful lines with no polarizing out of proportion parts. MB and Audi borrow cues from their higher level models, why can’t BMW? It’s just sad. It has great lines, a nice power dome and some nice touches, but other things that look crappy. It’s like Rembrant and Any Warhol coming together, and that certainly wouldn’t work. RoWo posted a good video showing what this car could’ve been just ironing out the lack of flow and cohesion. Now I don’t know what to do. Yes, I could wait for a LCI, but will it be better? Will they replace the dash with a long ugly ipad like MB and I models? If it’s just progress and I just need to get with plan and understand modern design then why do so many older BMW’s get the nod for best looking BMW ever? If this was the case then all the newer models should be at the top of these rankings and they certainly aren’t on any list like this: https://drivetribe.com/p/top-10-most...RwyRi6uHt8lzEg |

truthfulIy I don't come here often enough to keep up with your drivel. However when I do, you manage to stick out for me with incessant posting about how great your 1M is and how all other cars since suck. I find it amusing. here we have one of the ugliest/heaviest/least driver focused coupes BMW has revealed to date and ofcourse you christen it the worthy successor of your 1M and then take your usual dump on the F-series. lol. Wouldn't be contrarian of you otherwise. but hey, free speech, you do you my man. |

I'm in love. No doubt this car will be far more impressive in person and behind the wheel than a few still shots or even video implies.

I see no immediate need to let go of my 135 or or the M Roadster or the X5 5.0
I'd just thought I'd share Surprised no convertible, I guess they want you to move up to the 3er

Explain why every new BMW released has gotten hate for the past 20+ years only for them to be loved later. This is no different, it's just the amount of hate has for some reason gotten massively amplified for the past 1+ year, beyond reason, probably to do with lockdown. Anyways, people will love these cars in a few years, just wait, it happens every time and this is no different
