Like Merc did from 2014 to 2020 with their years before designed and built hybrid, something that Wolff forced the FIA to introduce to replace V8.

Do you think the new TD is actually impacting them vs this just being a bad circuit for them and no an ideal set-up?

Actually, rejoice for the race tomorrow ! It promises to be no snoozefest.

On paper Verstappen's RB19 is about a second slower than the Ferrari and Mercedes car. He will start from P11. His RB19 is struggling with balance - tinkering with set-up was to no avail, the car is nervous on this track.

Overtaking is difficult on this bumpy street circuit. Ferrari and Mercedes are lusting after a race win. No daylight and heat/humidity strains drivers. Throw some rain and yellow/red flags drama in the mix and it could become interesting to see how Verstappen performs. Passing Ferrari and Mercedes will be sheer impossible for him. This race is a golden chance for both Ferrari and Mercedes to get the race win. Norris is capable of raining on the parade of Ferrari and Mercedes. As all drivers know that track position is key on this circuit, we can expect Sainz, Russell and Leclerc to fiercely fight for P1 (high risk of a collision). Not excluded that Hamilton wins the race.

If Verstappen manages to stay out of trouble during the race start, he will patiently move forward to P7 or P6. On paper, finishing in the top 5 will normally be unlikely, except if safety cars bring all cars together again.

It's up to Verstappen to show everyone what he's capable of. I expect him to take 'all or nothing' risks, elbows out, with a risk of DNF.

The TD isn't affecting them

This is track specific, even Toto says the TD does fuck all, he said back in 2015 they had the same issue and next race they went back to winning.

Singepore GP seems to make the most dominant team look like a mid table team for some reason, and no one knows why.

Christian Horner even said they're running the same exact spec cars from monza and Zaandavort, there were no changes.

I personally think it's the humidity and asphalt used on the streets.

Either way, tomorrow we're in for a long interesting race.

The RB has similar pace to the front 4 and I believe a good strategy call or rain will shake it up.

The issue here though is if the new setup is going to affect their race pace.

Andrew Shovlin (Mercedes Trackside Engineering Director) explained in his Monza race debriefing video why he expected the Mercedes cars to perform better at the Singapore track than they did at the Monza track. He hoped for a strong performance. The results of the qualies (P2 and P5) are indeed promising - a race win is realistic this time around:

"Will the Singapore track suit the car more ?
Well, we're certainly hoping so but there is reason to think that the car will work better because Singapore is a maximum downforce circuit and our performance at the high downforce tracks if you look at Barcelona, Budapest even Zandvoort in the race, the car was working well. We've had pretty strong performance. So we're hoping to be able to be a bit quicker there and get back to a position where we can challenge for podiums. Now, the track though does throw up some pretty unique challenges and we've also got some layout changes for this year. So there's a sequence of four corners near the end of the lap: they've been removed where the track used to go underneath the grandstand, through a tunnel. That's now gone. So we've got a longer straight, which will change a little bit how the tires are working, there's a bit less energy there but it's also an abrasive tarmac. We've got the softest three compounds, so it's a pretty tough race on the tires and it's also bumpy street circuit, and added to that the race is run at night. So plenty of challenges for us to try and tackle to get our heads round. But as I said we're going there optimistic for a strong performance."

The most promising piece I've read so far with the RB situation.

MAX the winner of the last 10 races in a row is suddenly 1.5 sec. slower than P1 !?!?
That can be nailed by hundreds of questions.
In QF3 , MAX and Checo are beated by both HAAS cars , Alpha Tauri and Alpine..
I've never seen this before ..
Checo the street track specialist completely lost it in QF2 , he couldn't keep the car at the track..
F1 is stunned with disbelief !

As I said , Red Bull is screwed by the FIA and Toto Wolff . Named new FIA regulations in the middle of the season !
But ! To be sure , let's wait and see how fast the RB19 will be in Japan (Suzuka)
Then we'll speak again ...

This Isn't my conspiracy theory , but I already heard it last Friday ..
And why should Red Bull suddenly change the RB19's winning floor ?
The RB19 floor with the special air flow in the Venturi tunnels was Adrian Newey's masterpiece...
If they changed the RB19 floor , It's because they had to !

Nah

The new floor was basically an upgraded new floor, for this qualifying and race, they're currently using the old floor and running a bit lower.

If the TD was actually affecting them, they wouldn't be allowed to use the old floor.

I'm not sure about that . We'll see it soon enough next week at Suzuka .

The FIA came with new regulations , and suddenly the RB19 is 1.5 sec. slower.
This is no coincidence ...

Red Bull ran already with the new floor in the free practice by MAX and Checo and it really s@cked ..
Why would Red Bull run with a very bad new floor in the Qualifying if they still had the old winning floor ?

It's Singapore, they've been saying this since the beginning of the season that they'll struggle here.

The TD has nothing to do with how the RB performs here, it's happened to other teams in the past. Race pace is very similar between all the teams, the RB was just never a good qualification car. The advantage of the RB was race pace and tire management.

Even last year RB struggled a bit, and it was raining.

RB ran their old floor in qualifying.

They ran the new floor during FP sessions only.

After FP3, they made the decision to switch to the old floor and run lower.

This is just a major setup issue that they can't solve because of the track itself. Nothing to do with the TD.

Where are the Max worshipping nut swingers at? So nice to see his whinging spoiled ass humbled. Still want him to win but, this was refreshing and needed. Seeing him get pipped in Q2 by Tsunoda who he impeded was icing on the cake.

I’m curious about this as well. These cars all behave differently dependent on how they were engineered, and the humidity and heat has to play a big role.

Quali pace and race pace are so different, so we’ll see how tomorrow turns out. But this stupid circuit has maybe 1-2 spots for passing, so any points scored for Red Bull will be a positive.

Lando, go for the win mate!!
