Having said that, even if an extension can be granted, I don't think EU car makers will use the time to build a new engine or create new variants. All BMW has to do is add boost and that can be done with software.
Precisely. It’s not about new R&D. Just extension of current tech. Which is pretty damn good. The track record of the current B58 seems pretty damn solid with tons of room to add power via software. Just look at all the tunes available.

2030 is a long way off for the people making policy. Problems aren’t problems for them until it’s on the doorstep. The only reasons they ever take proactive approaches to policy are for headlines, goodwill, and ultimately votes and dollars. Which is where the 2030 policy and similar policies have come from.

I don’t know if the US has a federal deadline. California does. They’ll back off it, too.

Does the LCI G80 get the interior update as the MY25 G20?

I assume i4 LCI will be at the same time as the ICE model, i.e. 7/24? Or is there some different information on that. Any info about BEV specific changes, specifically regarding power train/battery?

Hi, looking to buy an X5 Hybrid and new to this thread. Is the current thread info saying the 2025 version of the X5 won’t be in production until August 26 2024? Is that what “8/26” means? How do I read 8/26-7/33?

It looks like the new X5 (G65) is for the 2027 model year and production will run from August 2026 (8/26) thru July 2033 (7/33).

You can buy a 2025 X5 hybrid and they’ll probably start production on the 2025 model year in the summer of 2024, but it won’t be a G65.

August 2026 until July 2033. The G05 just got a facelift, so it will be a couple more years until the new model.

No PHEV option for the F70 means no electrified small BMW until 2028. That is hugely disappointing.

Great news! What about G82 M4? Will it still have 6MT for 2025MY? I'm on the list to get a 2024 model and I'm contemplating waiting for the 2025 LCI model. If there's a slight chance that 6MT could be canceled, I will take 2024.
Also, will 2024 M4 be upgradable to iDrive 8.5?
Thanks!

Depending on where you're at in line, there's a good chance you'll get a MY25 as they go into production in March. March allocations will be available at the end of January.

Yes it'll still have the manual.

Not sure on the iDrive, I'd guess iDrive 8.

Thanks for the reply! I signed up to be the third and it was a month and a half ago. There's no huge demand for them. Not as for M2 and M3. There are at least four different 6MT M4's in our area (Northern VA) available for an immediate purchase, but alas, I want specific color, options etc. They said LCI will come with iDrive 8.5, but only in 07/24. I guess, they will have to change MY25 models mid-year. I am also on an M2 list, but not too close to the top. They said I'll definitely be getting a MY25 M2 if I choose that over M4, but closer to December-2024. So, if, by any chance, M4 6MT is canceled, I'll be getting an M2 6MT. Win-win.

I was just told that my M4 allocation will come after end of January, 2024 despite me being the 3rd on the list. I hope it's an LCI model.
